1st Week of Internship

Introduction:
I was selected as an intern for Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTBL) by dropping the CV at the
head office of Mutual trust Bank Limited and being selected for the internship program of this
bank.
October 1, 2015 was the first day as an intern in Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTBL). I have
joined in the credit department as an intern.
Work Done For the Week:
Since this was the first week, my week went with understanding the work and the environment
of the bank. On the very first day I have been introduced to the office staff and to my supervisor
by the head of the credit department. My supervisor helped me to understand my work. She
mainly deals with Secured over draft (Financial Obligation) SOD (FO) files and told me how it
works. My activities during the whole week are as follows:

Understanding the processing of the SOD (FO) files.

Communicate with the customers and let the customer know what are the requirements
Preparing files according to them.
Getting CIB request
Get the approval from the SOD loan proposal.

Learning and Achievements

Being the first week of my internship the sphere of learning was very large. It was a time when I,
for the first time faced the Banking world of which I have been listening throughout my
university life. I started to learn the culture of an organization; I started to understand how the
work flows and also how my attitude should be in the office. Every work I was doing was very
new for me. I realized I must have a better understanding of using Microsoft Excel to do my
activities in a better way.
As it was just my first week as an intern the list of achievement was not very big. I was
following my line supervisor's orders. The MS word file she told me to make, I made that and
she was pleased to see my work. This made me happy.
Over-all, during my first week, I started to learn a lot and also achieved appraisals from my line
manager which made me inspired to work even better.

Observations or Reflections
As a newly joined intern my observations regarding the company were very basic. I observed the
following topics:
The work which the managers do are very systematic as well as diversified
A person working there has to be compatible with multi-tasking
The company puts a lot of importance on work-life balance. The people over there
usually do not like to work over time

Notable Incidents
This was my first time experience in the corporate world. The main notable incident for me was
the difference of the lifestyles of a university student and of an office-going employee. Also, I
realized MTBL treats its interns in a very positive manner. They treat the interns as a part of the
company not just as an apprentice who will be working only for two or three months. This
feeling motivated me to work.
