standard Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of
networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government
networks of local to global scope that are linked by a broad array of electronic and optical
networking technologies.

,Access area, like phone is called IP Number TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol / Internet
Protocol) Eg.115.32.95.16 (115 is network no. 32 is local host,95.16 ISP and users)
Host names are .com,.edu,.gov,.net,.mil,. country code are in,fr,ae,au
TCP/IP->WAN->Hypertext document->Website(WWW)->Email.

MODEM:-A modem (modulator-demodulator) is a device that modulates an analog carrier signal
to encode digital information, and also demodulates such a carrier signal to decode the
transmitted information.

the computers work on digital aspects and can send and receive only digits that are 0 and 1. The
modem is used to convert the strings of 0s and 1 into electrical signals and can be sent in
telephonic lines.

Internet is a network connecting thousands of computers each computer has a unique address is
based on network address. Data communication is quick safe and reliable between computers.
Communitiona channel will be through twisted pair wire or coaxial cable wire. Fiber optics and
wireless links are also used in the networking systems. The internet is designed is such a way

packets. sequence of packets is sent like letters to reach the destination. Each packet will contain
