PRE-NEWS

This year the International Federation instituted the CIK-FIA “U18” World Karting Championship.
A World karting Championship for drivers between the ages of 15 and 18 that will be run over three
events in 2010:
25th July, in Wackersdorf (Germany)
29th August, in Alcaniz (Spain)
3rd October, in Val de Argenton (France)
In these three events the teams will use Fim engines by Parolin and Dunlop tyres, while drivers will
have a free choice for the chassis; they will be able to chose from the constructors that have
expressly requested to participate and that have submitted their material for CIK-FIA “U18” World
Karting Championship homologation.

GOLD KART IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Righetti Ridolfi didn’t miss the opportunity to participate in the CIK-FIA World Championship
with the Gold Kart brand. The reason was explained by Giampaolo Righetti, the Administrative
Director of the Group: “We really believe in chance these young drivers have to race at low costs
with karts that are very similar to each other: everyone on equal terms”. Right, because the rules of
this U18” World Karting Championship are very precise: each driver must declare with which
constructor he intends to race for the three events. Following this, at the time of the race or the
general tests that will be held on the 5th-6th July on a track yet to be decided, each driver will have
the chance to purchase the chassis which he draws out of the hat for the entire Championship at a
previously fixed rate. In fact CIK-FIA has decided that each constructor presents at least 20 chassis
and a precise number of relevant accessories (wheels, hubs, spindles and axles). From all these
chassis, which will all be verified and marked by CIK-FIA, each will be extracted and will have to
be used by the driver in the races.
In fact during each single event the diver will only be allowed to use one chassis, one engine and
one set of tyres. So everyone will start on the same level: “The constructors job”, Righetti
continued, “while above all be that of offering assistance at the track”. In fact every constructor
must be present at the three events and offer all the drivers their assistance without preference.
“The costs of the Championship will be very low and will allow everyone, constructors and drivers,
to compete in a CIK-FIA Championship without having to access large sums of money that are out
of most peoples reach” Righetti continued. “For example no magnesium accessories will be
allowed. Furthermore, to avoid that some are at a disadvantage due to a contact, following a race
accident, the constructors themselves will inspect the karts decide if the chassis or the engine or any
other components needs to be changed because it is damaged beyond repair or if it can be repaired.
Each driver will be treated fairly and nobody will have an advantage”.
Less costs, more karting, more fun. Welcome back Gold Kart.
