Beta glucan is glucose monomers connected by glycosidic linkages

Water soluble fiber of beta glucan

Also contains insoluble fiber found in Oat
Has positive effect for LDL cholesterol reduction, diabetes
mellitus Type 2, Cardiovascular hypertension, dll

Slowing down the sugar absorption after meal

Insoluble fiber adds mass to the digested products to be
excreted out

MECHANISM

Barrier against food-cholesterol

EXPLANATION

Food supplies 20% of cholesterol

from being absorbed

Avoiding cholesterol degradation
product (bile acid) from reabsorption
Removing blood cholesterol from
the circulation

Bile acid is a degradation product of

cholesterol. Bile acid and cholesterol are
delivered to the intestine to be reabsorbed. Beta-glucan binds to this
complexes then remove them all.
Because the beta-glucan/cholesterol/bile
acid complexes have been removed then
the cholesterol is further taken from the
blood to be processed in the gall resulting
in the low blood cholesterol
