Potovani korisnici,
Preduzee NHBG IKS HARD d.o.o.
osnovano je 1990. godine u Beogradu. Ime je
dobilo po prvoj proizvedenoj leguri, "NHBG"
koja pripada familiji legura nisko hromno belo

Dear Customers,
Our Company NHBG-ZIKS HARD Ltd. was
founded in 1990. year in Belgrade. The company
was named after the first alloy that was produced
in our foundary- NHBG , that belongs to the
low-chrome basic pig iron wear resistant alloys ,
which is used in the high abrasive conditions. The
production procedure of floating balls products is
made of low-chrome basic pig iron, registrated by
the Federal Patent Office under Patent number

In 1998. year, ZIKS HARD seriously and

permanently decided to produce connecting
terminals for the high-voltage power plants. In that
year, we started co-operation with the Elektroistok
Power Transmission Company in Belgrade. With
the co-operation with their experts, we realized the
value and importance of these equipment for
reliably function of high-voltages power plants in
the system of transmission and distribution of
electrical energy. That was the new challenge for
more serious commitment of developing of new
inovatin constructions and improving casting
technology of high quality alloys and mechanical
processing. That brought to us good results during
the testing of chemical, mechanical and electrical
characteristics of the first patterns of these
equipment. With good constructions, design, and
practicality of installation, the result was the
positive approved by Elektroistoks experts team,
who was monitoring the development and making
of these equipment, and that gave us the green
light for the serious production.

DESCRIPTION, CONSTRUCTION,
CHARACTERISTICS AND TYPES
OF CONNECTORS

GENERAL
Investigations, development, documentation building, and preparations for production of connectors
started in 1992, whereas models making and test
production of small series started in 1994. Along
with test production, models as well as production
technology were improving.
Cooperation with the electric power transmission company Elektroistok-Belgrade, since 1998,
caused speeding up of development, significant
increase of production and assortment, as well as
significant quality improvement.
Today, our production program contains wide
assortment of connectors for all types of electric
power plants with voltage level 0.4 to 400 kV, which
mainly satisfies the necessities of electric power system, industry and railway.
In this catalogue, the connectors developed so
far are presented. We hope that it will serve well
to our customers, design engineers and builders for
selection while building new and maintaining existing electric power plants.
Having in mind the fact that the existing connectors are continuously improved, and that the new
connectors are designed, this catalogue will be subject to changes and updates with our obligation to inform our customers about these eventual changes.
If you are not certain about the selection of the
type of connectors, or the connectors that you need
are not present in this catalogue, our development
service will be at your disposal. Sending the sketch
or description of the type of connection that you
need (the kind of conductors and connectors on
the equipment you have) will be enough, and our
personnel will suggest the best technical solution
to you.
CONSTRUCTION OF CONNECTORS
Since the very beginning of the development of connectors, the highest attention was paid to their construction. Knowledge and experience of the experts
in this area from various companies, universities
and institutes were used.
Present construction satisfies the strictest technical criteria, as well as the heaviest exploitation conditions at the site of application. Mounted in any elec-

bilo kom elektroenergetskom postrojenju, spoljanje
ili unutranje izvodbe, stezaljke mogu izdrati i najtee
vremenske i klimatske uslove mesta ugradnje, (sunce,
kia, sneg, itd.) kao i najnepovoljnije uslove pojedinih
ambijetalnih sredina (soli, gasovi i druge agresivne
atmosferske neistoe).
odgovarajui kvalitetni materijali (aluminijum, bakar
i njihove legure) i primenjena adekvatna tehnologija
izrade (livenje, kovanje, termika, mainska i druga
obrada) koje garantuju postojanost elektrinih i
mehanikih karakteristika, a samim tim i visoku
pouzdanost elektroenergetskih postrojenja u kojima
najteim eksploatacionim uslovima, preoptereenjima
i kratkim spojevima, podnosei sva strujna, naponska,
termika, elektrodinamika i druga mehanika
naprezanja.
efekat korone, radio i TV smetnji.
Kompresione stezaljke su takve ilavosti da
izdravaju postupak spajanja sa provodnicima
kompresijom, a posle kompresije zadravaju svu
potrebnu mehaniku vrstou.
niskim i vrlo visokim temperaturama.
elektrohemijskih potencijala dva metala.
mogu zameniti ranije koriene stezaljke proizvodnje

can sustain the heaviest weather and climate conditions (sun, rain, snow, etc), as well as the hardest
conditions of particular ambient (salts, gasses, and
other aggressive atmospheric agents).
For the production of connectors, the appropriate quality materials have been chosen and utilized (aluminum, copper and their alloys) and the
adequate production technology has been applied
(casting, forging, thermic treatment, machining,
etc), which guarantee stability of electrical and
mechanical properties, and consequently high reliability of electric power plants into which they are
built.
The contact surface and contact pressures of
connectors are such that they guarantee good and
permanent connection even under the heaviest exploitation conditions, overloading, short-circuiting,
sustaining all current, voltage, thermal, dynamical,
and other mechanical stresses.
Particular attention was paid to design of connectors for very high voltages (220 and 400 kV),
which are mainly of compression or massive type.
Their shape is such (without sharp edges and with
screws inserted into the connector body) that enable limiting effect of corona, radio and TV interference.
Fatigue of compression connectors is such that
they can sustain the connection with conductors by
compression, and after the compression they maintain the required mechanical strength.
Also, care was taken regarding combined Al-Cu
connectors, where sealing is performed at the contact surface between two metals by means of special
agent, stable both at very low and very high temperatures. Thus, this connection is protected from
penetration of humidity and consequently from galvanic corrosion caused by electrochemical potential
difference between the two metals.
The connectors are divided into classes according to types and cross-sections of conductors and
the connectors on the devices most frequently used
in the electrical power system.
The basic dimensions are selected in such a way
that the connectors can completely replace the earlier versions of connectors produced by Dalekovod
Zagreb, Salvi Milano, etc.

Connecting of the connector parts with the conductors and the connectors on the devices is performed
with high quality steel screws. The screws are well
machined and hot dip galvanized.
In some cases, the screws are made of stainless
material (prochrom, bronze).
The screws are currently exclusively imported
from Germany. The quality of the screws is in the
strength class 8.8 and 10.9 (according to DIN 267).
Imbus screws are exclusively from the class 10.9.
In order to ensure contact pressure the screws
are equipped by the appropriate flat and elastic
washers.

It is very important, in order to achieve appropriate contact pressure, to achieve the corresponding force during tightening, i.e. torque.
Permissible torque for the characteristic screws
is given in the Table 3.

Radi obezbedjenja konstantnog kontaktnog

pritiska zavrtnji su opremljeni odgovarajuim ravnim
i elastinim podlokama.
Veoma je vano, a u cilju postizanja ispravnog
kontaktnog pritiska, da se kod pritezanja zavrtnjeva
postigne odgovarajua sila, odnosno momenat
zatezanja.
Potrebni momenat zatezanja za odgovarajue
zavrtnje je dat u tabeli 3.

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS

stezaljki pouzdan i trajan elektrini i mehaniki spoj

i u najteim uslovima eksploatacije, veoma je vano
pridravati se tehnikih uputstava za upotrebu:
1. Pravilno odabrati prikljunu stezaljku prema:
vrsti provodnika (aluminijum, aluelik, bakar),
bliku i preseku provodnika (ue, cev, ine
dimenzije),
vrsti prikljuka na aparatu (aluminijum, bakar,
bronza),
povrinska obrada prikljuka (pocinkovan,
posrebren, kalajisan i dr.),
obliku i dimenziji prikljuka (bolcn, ploa, navoj
dimenzije).
potencijala (videti tablicu u u prilogu 1 Korozija i
elektropotencijalni naponski niz elemenata).
Npr. ne treba spajati: ist bakar i ist aluminijum,
ist aluminijum i isto srebro (ili posrebreni bakar).

1. Select the connector according to:

type of conductor (aluminum, al-steel, copper),
shape and cross-section of the conductor (cord,
tube, rail dimensions),
type of connector on the device (aluminum, copper, bronze),
surface of the connector (zinced, silvered, tinned
etc),
shape and dimension of the connector (rivet, bar,
thread dimensions).
During the selection of the connector special attention should be paid to the avoiding of the connecting of the metals with great electro potential
difference (see the table in the Appendix 1 Galvanic
corrosion at the connection spot of different metals).
For example, pure copper and pure aluminum,
pure aluminum and pure silver (or silvered copper)
should not be connected together.
2. Perform regular mounting of the connectors:

strana / page 11
2. Izvriti pravilnu montau stezaljki:
provodnik pre stavljanja u stezaljku oistiti finom
metalnom etkom i premazati neutralnom
tehnikom mau. Prikljuak na aparatu oistiti
nekim hemijskim neagresivnim sredstvom (alkohol,
trihloretilen i sl.) i takodje premazati neutralnom
tehnikom mau,
prikljune stezaljke, u principu, nije potrebno istiti
izuzev suvom krpom u sluaju nataloene praine ili
druge neistoe. Isti postupak vai kako za stezaljke sa
zavrtnjima, tako i za kompresione stezaljke.
zavrtanja. Zavrtnje pritezati postepeno, unakrsno i
naizmenino odgovarajuim momentom zatezanja (vidi
tablicu). Obavezno koristiti moment klju.
4. Za izradu spoja kod kompresionih stezaljki
potrebno je upotrebiti odgovarajuu presu (80
100 t) i odgovarajui alat (estougaonikalup) prema
odredjenoj dimenziji kompresionog dela stezaljke.
(dodirnu) gornji i donji deo alata.
kruga oko estice jednak preniku spoljanjeg dela
stezaljke koja se presuje.
Kod kompresionih stezaljki kod kojih je
kompresioni deo stezaljke, posle montae, vertikalan
kompresiona ista duina i sile kompresije kako bi
prelazni otpori na oba dela bili istovetni, a samim tim
istovetne struje, padovi napona i zagrevanje.
perioda (oko 10 godina) dotegnu.

the conductor should be cleaned by fine metal

brush and coated by neutral technical grease,
before mounting,
the connectors need not be cleaned except by dry
cloth in the case of dust or other pollution. The
same holds both for connectors with screws and
the compression connectors.
3. The conductor and the connector on the device should be mounted in such a way that the surface contact is complete, and then the tightening
should start.
4. For the mounting of compression connectors,
the appropriate press is needed (80 100 t) as well
as the appropriate tool (hexagonal mould) according to the appropriate dimension of the compression part of the connector. The connection is well
done when upper and lower parts of the tool are
connected during the pressing.
The compression part of the connector is designed in such a way that for good connection
(across the whole cross-section) one should use the
mould whose diameter is equal to the diameter of
the external part of the connector being pressed.
The compression connectors having its compression part mounted vertically or at some angle
should be drilled 45 mm at the bottom of the
hollow part in order to drain eventual humidity and
consequently to prevent cracking of that part of the
connector due to low temperatures.
5. During the mounting of the connectors for two
conductors in the bundle it is very important to pay
attention to the equality of the connection of the
conductor and the connector at both sides. If the
connector contains screws, the tense forces should
be the same, and if the connector is of compression
type, both lengths and compression forces should
be the same. Consequently, the currents, voltage
drops and heating should be the same.
6. After long period of exploitation, due to the
wearing of the material, the contact pressure could
drop, so it is recommended to tighten the screws
after the long period of time (about 10 years).

PRILOG br. 1
GALVANSKA KOROZIJA NA SPOJU
RAZLIITIH METALA
korozija.
izloi agresivnoj atmosferi. Proces se na ovaj nain
nastavlja, dok se ne potroi sav metal.
Druga pomenuta vrsta korozije, galvanska korozija,
paljivo razmotriti prilikom izbora spoja metala.
Dva razliita metala u kontaktu jedan sa drugim u
prisustvu elektrolita (vlage) ine elektrolitiki element
i prouzrokuju protok struje kroz kontaktne take
potencijala od 1,645 V. Ako ta dva metala ostanu u
kontaktu izvestan period vremena uz prisustvo vlage
otpoee galvanska korozija i razaranje aluminijuma
nema galvanske korozije. Zbog toga se u oblastima
sa suvom klimom mogu medjusobno spajati metali
visoke razlike potencijala nevodei rauna o galvanskoj
koroziji.
Ova pojava je naroito izraena u vlanim
industrijskim zonama gde se stvaraju tetni elektroloti
tako to kia i vlaga apsorbuju gasove i formiraju

APPENDIX 1
GALVANIC CORROSION AT THE CONNECTION SPOT OF DIFFERENT METALS
Corrosion is an important factor to be considered
during the selection of the material for various electrical connections. There are two types of corrosion
that affect electrical purposes of metals: oxidation
and galvanic corrosion. Since the most of electrical
conductors in use are resistant to oxidation, the latter type is more important.
As mentioned above, both copper and aluminum are very resistant to oxidation, due to the
way in which their surfaces oxidize. The oxide film
is formed on the surface of both metals. This film
becomes the protection coating, which resists to
further oxidation. However, the corrosion of steel
proceeds in other way. The oxide film lifts from the
surface, enabling the clean metal surface to be exposed further to aggressive atmosphere. The process proceeds in this way until the whole metal oxidizes.
The other mentioned type of corrosion, galvanic
corrosion, is caused by the electro potential difference between two metals at the contact surface. It
should be carefully considered during the selection
of the metal contact. Two different metals in the
contact with each other in the presence of electrolyte (humid) constitute the electrolytic element and
cause current flow through the contact spots. This
causes corrosion and destruction of metals with
lower potential (the one which has the smaller ordinal number in the abovementioned table), which
is gradually spent in the electro chemical reaction.
It is sometimes necessary to connect Al and Cu
conductor. It can be seen from the table that, in the
presence of electrolyte, high potential difference of
1,645 V will be established. If these two metals remain in the contact for certain time period, in the
presence of humid, galvanic corrosion process will
start and aluminum will be destroyed, since its potential is lower.
If there is no electrolyte between two metals in
the contact, even with high potential difference,
galvanic corrosion is impossible. That is why in the
dry climate regions metals with high potential difference can be connected, regardless of galvanic
corrosion.
This phenomenon is especially significant in the
humid industrial zones, where the electrolytes are
created when rain and humid absorb gasses and
form acids and salts, whereas at the seaside regions
the electrolytes are created by combining of salt
with the humid atmosphere.

pogodnim izolacionim materijalom
(2) ubacivanje bimetalnog uloka od kupala
(3) upotrebom specijalnih kombinovanih Al-Cu
spojeva
(4) lemljenje kontaktnih povrina
(5) prevlaenje kontaktnih povrina nekim
metalom otpornim na koroziju iji je potencijal
izmedju potencijala bakra i aluminijuma
(6) nanoenje inhibitora korozije radi minimizacije
prodora tetnih elektrolita.

The following methods can be applied to prevent

galvanic corrosion at the contact spots of copper
and aluminum:
(1) isolation of the connection from the atmosphere by coating with agent resistant to humid or by some other convenient isolation
material
(2) mounting bimetal cupal plug
(3) use of special combined Al-Cu connections
(4) soldering of contact surfaces
(5) coating of contact surfaces by some metal
resistant to corrosion, whose potential is between the potential of copper and aluminum
(6) application of corrosion inhibitor in order to
minimize penetration of electrolytes .
