MONTH OF FEBRUARY - FOCUS ON WRITING SKILLS

The Six Pillars of Iman

by

Sarah Ahmed (Grade 7)

Like, you may know the five Pillars of

Islam, similarly there is something
called the six pillars of Iman. The
six pillars of iman include: believing
in Allah, believing in His angels,
believing in His books, believing in
His messengers, believing in the day
of judgement and Al-Qadr or faith
.When we believe in these six things,
whether we see it or not, out faith
becomes stronger.
The first pillar is believing in Allah,
the most high. We dont see Him
but, Allah is always watching us. We
must believe in Him in order to
worship Him. Allah is our Creator,
and we depend on Him. It is us who
need Him, not Him who needs us. He
is free of any need of others. Still, He
loves us, and wants us to go to
Jannah.
The Second pillar is believing in
the angels. We are not allowed to
illustrate them and we cannot see
them. They are very different from
us humans, and sometimes rarely
they could be in human shape. First,
we are made from mud, but they are
made from light. Second we have a
free will and angels dont. They dont
have the choice to disobey Allah.

IN THIS ISSUE

Al- Injeel revealed to Isaa

Al-Quran (the final revelation)
revealed to Muhammad (pbuh)

The Quran mentions some angels

name; Jibrael in charge of
communicating Allahs words to his
prophets.
Israfeel in charge of blowing the
trumpet to mark the day of
judgement.
Mikael in charge of rainfall
Munkar and Nakeer After death
these angels will question our souls
in the graves about faith and deeds.
Malak-al-Maut The angel of death
is in charge of taking possession of
souls after death
Malik- The guardian of Hell
Ridwan The guardian of Heaven
The third pillar of Iman is to believe
in the books of Allah. The books
mentioned by name in the Quran
are:
As Suhuf revealed to Ibrahim
Az-Zaboor revelealed to Dawood
At-Tawrat revealed to Musa

Today, the only reliable source of

guidance is the Quran because
every other book has been changed
over time. All of these books used to
contain the same message of
Tawheed along with other teachings
such as morality, worship, day of
judgement and belief in Heaven and
Hell.

The fourth pillar is the belief in the

day of judgement or resurrection.
Everybody is going to die at some
point, but that is not the end of our
existence. On a day, unknown to
everybody except Allah, people will
come forth of their graves and be
accountable for their actions and
deeds they did in the worldly life. If
they were bad, they will burn in hell
fire, and if they did good, they will
live happily in Jannat.

The fifth pillar is believing in the

prophets. We should believe, respect
and love the prophets and their
teachings. Allah SWT sent these
people to guide us in this life and
the next. There are 25 prophets
mentioned by name in the Quran:
Adam, Idrees, Nooh, Hood, Salih,
Ibrahim, Islmaeel, Ishaaq, Lut,
Yaqoob, Yousuf, Shuaib, Ayuub,
Musa, Haroon, Thul-Kifl, Dawood,
Sulaiman, Ilyas, Al-Yasa, Younus,
Zakariya, Yahya, Isa, and
Muhammad.(pbuh).
The sixth pillar of Iman is
predestination or Al-Qadr. A Muslim
must believe that Allah predestined
all thing and events to happen.
Sometimes, something bad may
happen and Allah made for it to
happen with a wise reason behind it.
Perhaps to teach you a lesson or
turn your face back to Allah.
Because when everything is good,
we sometimes forget the one who
has provided us with everything.
Also, it may be because of balance.
After every storm you do see the sun
again or get to enjoy a rainbow.
The six pillars of iman are very
important for a believer, and
