Sand Painters Art Guild Newsletter

http:/www.schemmerstudios.com
Our April meeting will be Saturday, April 24, at the Valentine Library.
We will meet at 10:00 a.m., CT. Please bring ANAC eligible art to be critiqued and selected down to 2 art works for
every member. Works selected will be displayed in the May ANAC Art Show. After lunch we will return to the library
to judge which 18 art pieces will be sent to State in June. You don’t have to have all the pieces framed, but they should be
at least matted so we can hang them. Then you can frame them for the state show. We will have short a business meeting
and the drawing for the Wilma Schaffert original. Dinner location to be decided that morning.

Art, Then and Now

Great job everyone. The show is up and is a must see event.
We will take the show down on the 24th. You will have a chance to
see it before we put up the ANAC Selection show.

Drawing

The Sand Painters have a special friend, Wilma Schaffert, who has
donated 3 prints and an original painting to be given away at the
meetings. Attending the meetings will have an extra bonus, you
can add your name to the “hat” once more, we will give everyone
present a chance to win. This is not a fund raiser. The winner will
be drawn the day of the ANAC Selection Show, in April. The
original painting is still left to be drawn. Don’t miss the meetings
you may be the lucky one.

Thank You
To Joan Swim and all who helped with the painting of the Pamida
windows, they look great.

April Library Art Show will feature works of art eligible for ANAC.
VAAC Event artist: April 18th, Geri Coleman.

Joan and Pat shared some workshop principals that they have found relevant in their experience:

-draw what is familiar.

-relate shape to the alphabet.

-Don’t tell the participants everything.

-When your work speaks for itself, don’t interrupt.

Debby asked if everyone was receiving the newsletters. Responses were very good.

The Sand Painters Art Guild web site is going well. Be sure to check in during the month and read the blog. Post a
comment to let your fellow members know what you are doing. Pat asks that you remind her about uploading anything of
interest, please.

https://www.mckennapro.com is the site that Pat and Anita are using for their photographs. The tins that were at the
meeting were from there. The tin sells for $14.99

The final signup sheet for the March weekend retreat was passed around.

Club Challenges-Photo Manipulation

Ok Photographers – photo manipulations can be anything done to a photo that
changes it, color, shape, media, painted on, colored on, cut out, cooked in a photo
program on the computer, altered, disassembled and reassembled. Anything goes.
Start with a photo and let your creative juices take you to the world beyond traditional
photography. [This is not due until the May meeting- just food for thought.]

Put this on your calendar

There's a 4-day watercolor workshop by Sandy Meyer at the Dancing Leaf Cultural Center near Wellfleet, on
May 13, 14, 15, and 16. More info on the ANAC web site under "News". Looks like another great opportunity
in a beautiful and interesting location, for anyone who might be interested. Perhaps most of you have seen it
already.

Sketchbook: Are you using yours? Can’t live without it???

Hey all---get a sketchbook--any sketchbook---and get ready to use it this year. Carry it with you at all times and
have some fun drawing supplies to go with. A zip lock bag works really well to hold supplies. Upcoming will
be an Internet link to ideas for sketchbook/journal entries. (The sketchbooks can be very simple and inexpensive
or more elaborate---you decide.)
