Dear friends,

"Akemashite" (the new year has opened up.) "Omedeto Gozaimasu" (congratulations!). And
might add as our friends do, "As in the past, we request your favor in the coming new year".
Go back with us for a moment in order to review some of the victories we have

As a result of Brother Akira Oda's preaching in our fall evangelistic meeting Minoru

Aihara was baptized on Sunday, Nov. 4th. We were happy to learn that Ryohei Koizumi, (see fall
Epistle) our exchange student at St. Louis, Mich, was baptized there on that very same Sunday by
Brother Hank McAdams, who is also his host.

No sooner had December begun, than Miss Mine Kihara

a junior high student determined to be baptized in the chilly evening water of our outdoor bap
tistry.

She was lead in her decision by the influence of our very youngest Christians.

In the aforementioned Epistle, we introduced Debbie Eikeland as nephew Rodney Crider*s'good

friend'. After a very brief engagement they were-jnarried on NavendJer"17tEl".-- Debbie's mother was
able to come from Anaheim, Calif, for a week of preparations and for the ceremony. The newlyweds

are living in an apartment here in Isehara about 35 minutes from Atsugi Naval Air Facility where
we

Rod serves. They are invaluable to the work as examples and as leaders and
build the church house. Only the Lord could have planned for his assignment so near by.

Christmas programs at the Junior College, Jr. High School were over early in the month. The
rest of our time was spent visiting the children's hospital, caroling, in the Sunday School pro
gram, a candle light service and church sukiyaki dinner. Along with people all over Japan, our
group enlisted customers to visit the local movie theatre to see "Shiokari Mountain Pass". This
is based upon Ayako Miura's best selling Christian novel. Pray for its influence and that of re
cent showing on TV of "The Robe" and "The King of Kings".

Oh Christmas .day>'we were honored by the presence of a Japanese family, a Viet Nam student a
Nigerian'student, and--a^sailor from Minnesota as well as Rod and Debbie. In the afternoon, who
should show up at our doo'F~bu-t~Hideto Yoshii, unexpectedly returning from his graduate study at
Cincinnati Bible Seminary. Pray for the Lord to lead in his future planning.

As of the end of 1973 our committment to the Kajiki Church and-teiadecg^ten ( in Kagoshima)

Since that time our church has (l) set aside a building fiind and (2) given one week's of

their offerings, coupled with gifts from other churches in Japan and their work have made this a
local project. So the building has not been handed to them by the Americans. We are so theinkful

After learning about what baptism is he remarked, "Then

Yumiko Takanashi, 2nd year at Hatano High School was baptized into Christ on July l4th. Roy

Koizumi, who is in the same class with her placed his membership with us in July. He was immersed
into Christ by Hank McAdams who also served as his sponsor for one year study in the U.S. The McAdams along with the St.Louis, Mich, church have made an inestimable contribution to the Lord's
work in Japan by this gesture.

Eight Isehara youth and four Zushi Church young people were leaders at Motosu Christian Camp
