TEXT:
John
6:16-21
16 And
when
even was
now
come,
his
disciples
went
down
unto the
sea,
17 And
entered
into a
ship, and
went
over the
sea
toward
Caperna
um. And
it was
now
dark, and
Jesus
was not
come to
them.
18 And
the sea
arose by
reason of
a great
wind that
blew.
19 So
when
they had
rowed
about
five and
twenty or
thirty
furlongs,
they see
Jesus
walking
on the
sea, and
drawing
nigh unto
the ship:
and they
were
afraid.
20 But he
saith
unto
them, It
is I; be
not
afraid.
21 Then
they
willingly
received
him into
the ship:
and
immediat
ely the
ship was
at the
land
whither
they
went.

for the

disobedie

and
who have
refused
to obey
God's
repeated
comman
ds to
"pray
without

for
unbelieve
rs,
believers,
and
political
leaders.
Yes, you
should
pray for
the right
candidate
to win;
yes, you
should
vote for
the
candidate
that the
Lord
gives you
peace
about
voting
for. But,
don't get
caught
up in it
like the
world
does.
Nothing
much is
going to
change
until
people
get saved
and get
their
hearts
right with
the Lord.
This
campaign
is
inspired
by the
following
three
verses: 1
Corinthia
ns 2:2
which
says,
"For I
determin
ed not to
know
anything
among
you, save
Jesus
Christ,
and him
crucified.
" Acts
5:42
which
says,
"And
daily in
the
temple,
and in
every
house,
they
ceased
not to
teach and
preach
Jesus
Christ."
And 2
Timothy
2:4 which
says, "No
man that
warreth
entanglet
h himself
with the
affairs of
this life;
that he
may
please
him who
hath
chosen
him to be
a
soldier."
This
series is
not for
Christian
s
necessari
ly.
However,
I do hope
you are
one of
those
saints
who still
loves to
hear the
"Old, old
story of
Jesus
and His
love" -As
another
hymn
says,
"For
those
who
know it
best
Seem
hungerin
g and
thirsting
to hear it
like the
rest."
This
series is
primarily
for
unbelieve
rs, so
they can
hear and
understa
nd the
Gospel
and be
saved
from sin
and the
punishm
ent of sin
which is
hell. This
is
message
number
70.
Ray
Stedman
said,
"What
Jesus is
saying to
the
disciples,
as he is
saying to
us as
well, is,
'That
which
frightens
you, that
very
thing
which
scares
you, is
me. I am
coming
to you in
and
through
that
circumst
ance, so
you do
not need
to be
afraid. I
am in
charge of
it. I have
chosen it
for you,
therefore
you do
not need
to be
afraid.'"
As we
look at
this story
once
again, it
seems so
familiar
that we
might
miss a
few
important
details.
First, the
disciples
had to
choose
to believe
and obey
Jesus
when He
told
them, "be
not
afraid" -literally,
"Stop
being
afraid."
Fear is
one of
the most
basic
human
emotions
. We are
taught
from an
early age
to be
afraid of
things
that
could
harm us.
Many are
taught to
fear
things
that they
are not
used to.
Some
fear
change.
Some
fear
difficulty.
Some
fear
challenge
s in life.
But the
Bible
tells us
that "God
hath not
given us
a spirit of
fear."
Thus,
Jesus
tells His
disciples,
"Be not
afraid."
Knowing
that
Jesus is
walking
on the
waves
puts a
flame of
confiden
ce back
in the
hearts of
the
disciples.
Scholars
say that
this is the
occasion
upon
which
Peter
asked
Jesus to
let him
walk on
the water,
and he
did.
The
disciples
have laid
aside
their fear
now that
Jesus is
with
them.
The text
says,
"Then
they
willingly
received
him into
the ship."
This
implies
some
initiating
action on
the part
of the
disciples.
Jesus
would
not board
the ship
unless
the
disciples
recognize
d that it
was not a
ghost,
but
Jesus,
coming
to them
and
calming
their
fears.
We are
reminded
here of
how
Jesus
works
across
the
board. He
does not
shove
His way
into our
hearts
and lives;
He waits
to be
invited in.
In
Revelatio
n, John
spoke of
him as
standing
at the
door
knocking,
waiting
for the
door to
be
opened.
Only
those
who
really
want
Jesus to
be with
them will
receive
Him.
Then, we
see
another
miracle
that takes
place in
this
passage.
The Bible
reads,
"And
immediat
ely the
ship was
at the
land
whither
they
went."
Rememb
er, when
Jesus
came to
the ship,
it was
stalled in
the
middle of
the Sea
of
Galilee,
barely
making
any
headway.
However,
John
writes
that as
soon as
Jesus got
on the
boat, the
ship was
at its
destinati
on on the
opposite
shore.
This was
a miracle
in itself. It
happene
d so
quickly
and
quietly
that
some of
the
disciples
probably
didn't
notice it
until after
it
happene
d.
Jesus
allowed
the
disciples
to go
through
this
storm to
show
them that
He was
always
with them
and that
they did
not have
to be
afraid
because
He would
see them
through
to the
end of
whatever
situation
they
faced.
You are
likely
going
through a
stormy
time in
your life
right
now. (If
you are
not, you
will in the
future.)
You will
face
situation
s that
cause
you to be
afraid
and to
doubt.
But you
can walk
through
those
circumst
ances
fearless
and
confident
if you
have
Jesus in
your
heart and
by your
side. If
you want
to receive
Jesus
Christ as
your
Savior
today,
here is
how.
1. Accept
the fact
that you
are a
sinner,
and that
you have
broken
God's
law. The
Bible
says in
Ecclesias
tes 7:20:
"For
there is
not a just
man
upon
earth that
doeth
good,
and
sinneth
not."
Romans
3:23
reads:
"For all
have
sinned
and come
short of
the glory
of God."
In fact, I
am the
chief of
sinners,
so don't
think that
you're
alone.
2. Accept
the fact
that there
is a
penalty
for sin.
The Bible
states in
Romans
6:23:
"For the
wages of
sin is
death"
3. Accept
the fact
that you
are on
the road
to hell.
Jesus
Christ
said in
Matthew
10:28:
"And fear
not them
which kill
the body,
but are
not able
to kill the
soul: but
rather
fear him
which is
able to
destroy
both soul
and body
in hell."
The Bible
says in
Revelatio
n 21:8:
"But the
fearful,
and
unbelievi
ng, and
the
abomina
ble, and
murderer
s, and
whoremo
ngers
and
sorcerers
, and
idolaters,
and all
liars,
shall
have
their part
in the
lake
which
burneth
with fire
and
brimston
e: which
is the
second
death."
4. Accept
the fact
that you
cannot
do
anything
to save
yourself!
The Bible
states in
Ephesian
s 2: 8, 9:
"For by
grace are
ye saved
through
faith: and
that not
of
yourselve
s: it is a
gift of
God. Not
of works,
lest any
man
should
boast."
5. Accept
the fact
that God
loves you
more
than you
love
yourself,
and that
He wants
to save
you from
hell.
Jesus
Christ
said in
John
3:16, "For
God so
loved the
world,
that He
gave His
only
begotten
Son, that
whosoev
er
believeth
in Him
should
not
perish,
but have
everlastin
g life."
6. With
these
facts in
mind,
please
repent of
your
sins,
believe
on the
Lord
Jesus
Christ
and pray
and ask
Him to
come
into your
heart and
save you
this very
moment.
The Bible
states in
the book
of
Romans
10:9, 13:
"That if
thou
shalt
confess
with thy
mouth
the Lord
Jesus,
and shalt
believe in
thine
heart that
God hath
raised
Him from
the dead,
thou
shalt be
saved."
"For
whosoev
er shall
call upon
the name
of the
Lord
shall be
saved."
Dear
friend, if
you are
willing to
believe
on the
Lord
Jesus
Christ for
salvation,
please
pray with
me this
simple
prayer:
Heavenly
Father, I
realize
that I am
a sinner
and that I
have
done
some bad
things in
my life.
For
Jesus
Christ
sake,
please
forgive
me of my
sins. I
now
believe
with all of
my heart
that
Jesus
Christ
died for
me, was
buried,
and rose
again.
Lord
Jesus,
please
come
into my
heart and
save my
soul and
change
my life
today.
Amen.
If you
believed
in your
heart that
Jesus
Christ
died on
the
cross,
was
buried,
and rose
again,
allow me
to say,
congratul
ations on
doing the
most
important
thing in
life and
that is
accepting
Jesus
Christ as
your Lord
and
Saviour!
