Algerias Avenue to a Greater Algeria

The purpose of this research is to broaden the relationship between Algeria and
United States of America since they both had already talks about this matter in
July 2001 before the 9/11 terrorist attacks incident. The researchers goal is to
assure Algeria and US that despite of the terrorist attacks they were linked into,
even in different parts of the region will not hinder the economic security of the
country. Thus, trades and relations between two states should not be affected.
Algeria and United States of America will come up with an agreement on
economic exchanges for development and strengthening its ties. Algeria is one
of the worlds top ten producers of petroleum -- both oil and natural gas. While,
the United States of America is considered one of the most powerful states in the
world, capable of global power projection, giving it significant influence
worldwide thus can help the region to prosper. In this paper, it involves the
exports and imports on and of both states. In this setting, Algeria will export oil
and gases in exchange for medical equipment and support, the building of stable
institutions that contribute to the security and stability of the region, and support
Algerias civil society, opening more trade in the public and private sectors
across the country. The means that will be used in sending goods from these two
countries are choppers or cargo ships routing through the Pacific Ocean. Also,
Algeria has the capacity to combat terrorism which is one of the advocacies of
US- counterterrorism. The means that will be utilized is the Game Theory
approach, in order for both states to know what they can get having this agenda,
thus, involves rational decision making between rational actors.
Statement of the Problem:
One of the Algerias main goals is to develop its country with the cooperation of the United
States of America, to make their economy prosper with the proposed agreement. With these two
heads joining together would probably lead to more intensified ties given that these two states
commonly shared principles that they could agree upon. Hence, Algeria would probably boost its
economic relations towards US which will be an avenue for Algeria to grow as any other
developing countries. How can Algeria benefit from US despite of the different issues thrown to
them (i.e. terrorism and hostage takings)? How can Algeria assure US that this could lead to a
better and stronger ties in a win-win situation? Which of Algerias options could best convince
US to cooperate with them and why?

This paper intends to find out that Algeria has the capacity to develop with the help of US despite
of the issues they are linked into and could lead to greater outcomes with the principles they have
shared and achieving one goal.
