A law is presumed to be constitutional.

With the stringent process which a

bill has to go through before it finally becomes a part of the law of the land, it is
presumed that it has overcome the tests of necessity which justifies its birth.
Lawmakers of the country had meticulously scrutinized each letter and carefully
deliberated on the very purpose of the bill, with the aim to bring it into a law.

Republic Act 10175, otherwise known as CYBERCRIME PREVENTION

ACT OF 2012, An Act Defining Cybercrime, Providing For The Prevention,
Investigation, Suppression And The Imposition Of Penalties Therefore And For
Other Purposes, is one of the newest enacted law in the Philippines.

Like any other law in the country, it must have been created due to its
perceived substantial necessity. It must have been designed to cope up with the
dynamic and fast-phased technology nowadays.

The country can now be said to have fully adapted and embraced the
blessings of high-technology. It has alleviated the seemingly turtle-speeding
processes in the country. Along with the development brought about by technology,
it also had turned medium for communication a whole lot convenient.

High-technology paved a way to the birth of social network, a fruit thereof.

People, regardless of their age, sex, and race, attest to the truly beneficial help of
said social-networking. People from around the world are brought together and
kept connected with their loved ones wherever in this world they may be.

Some of the well-known networking sites in the country and largely

accessed by Filipinos are; Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. People make the most
of these sites. These have been the connecting sites for friends, relatives, and the
like.

However, with the inherently audacious personality of people, and of the

Filipinos, the very meaning and purpose of these sites have lost their essence. The
seemingly tamed and silent fruit of technology has become the source of
destruction of dignity, violence, strife, fraud, and haven for impostors.

Speaking on my behalf, who likewise have an access to one of the

aforementioned social networking sites, have seen with my two eyes how
dangerous these sites can actually be. Exchange of unsavory words becomes a
normalcy. Heedless skins prevail. He said. She said. It now becomes too easy for
the ill-bred fellow to taint someone elses image out of envy and jealousy. These
sites had now become a breeding ground for disorder.

Here comes the abovementioned law which aims to curb the menace brought
about by said networking sites. People, belonging to different sectors of the
country had voiced out their defiance of the law. Others had walked down the
streets waving their hands in acquiescence.

Now, it brings me back to remember that every law is enacted due to its
significance to the particular matter from which it was created for. Conclusion is,
Republic Act 10175 was brought into being to put a period to the seemingly
endless havoc happening in these sites.

This law serves as a hand-cuff for anyone who may be in the verge of
attempting to disrepute anyone using the networking sites. This law assures that
anyone who would do otherwise as what it says would have a place in a prison
facility.

What the law clearly wants us to realize is to become cautious and

responsible in every way we do. To be able to determine the repercussions of our

own acts when we are left loose in these social networking sites and that there are
corresponding sanctions awaiting the moment we show potential harm to others
grace and dignity.

Freedom of expression and its violation is the main concern of others with
respect to this law. They say it is harsh. However, as the famous line in law which
goes, Dura Lex Sed Lex, the law is harsh but it is the law. If its being harsh
would bring a change, a change that would rearrange every behaviour not wanting
to be on loose in these networking sites, eventually imparting a lesson of
sensibility and sense of responsibility for every individual, so then, let it be.
