LESSON PLAN

SUPERLATIVE OF ADJECTIVES

OVERVIEW
Making comparative and superlative adjectives offer the opportunity to talk in a more
complex way and express things in an elaborate way. The job of the adjective is to give more
information about a noun. An adjective will describe the noun by giving its size, composition,
colour, age, shape, weight, etc.
I think that being able to teach the students how to talk about the characteristics of a
person or animal or object will help them improve their vocabulary and will develop a fluent
and complex way of talking

patterns

Stage one: Warm up

T. writes in a circle the word `adjectives` and adds

petals. All over the blackboard she writes different
words - among them several adjectives .
The Ps need to identify the adjectives and they
have to put them into the petals.
T. announces the title and the objectives of the
lesson.

Stage two: Checking

previous informationComparative adjectives

T. revises the already known knowledge and she

tells the Ps that they are going to do some
activities in order to consolidate their knowledge.

Stage three: Rules and

definitions

On the first slide of the power point presentation

regarding the superlative adjectives T. gives the
first rule of the adjectives with their form and
examples. After discussing the rules some pictures
appear asking the Ps to identify which adjectives
best suits the picture. The same thing continues
with the second and third slide. On the forth slide
we have irregular adjectives and the T. explains
the rules of how they should learn them.

Stage four: Practice

Reinforcement

On the slide T. gives five short sentences with

gaps to fill in order to see if the
students understood the rules. The sentences are
with long and short adjectives and the students
have to fill in with the correct superlative form of
the adjective. This exercise is an interaction
between the T. and de Ps. On another slide there
are pictures with different animals and the Ps are
asked to look at them and identify the biggest, the
