course, which is uncommon or has a different curriculum and structure, there are others who wish to

Here we have a brief admission cycle of some of the major study abroad destinations across the
world:

United States (US)

Application begins: 12 to 18 months before you plan to begin studying here.

Submit your applications between August and October
Last date for submission: End of February
Admission Results: Between March to May Universities notify whether you

have been selected or not.

Visa Cycle: Students can apply within 120 days from the start date of I-20
and can travel within 30 days from the start date of I-20
Session begins: September/October (Fall Semester)

Application begins: October (previous year)

Last date for submission: March (can be extended to June end for

International students)
Admission Results: Between March to May Universities notify whether you
have been selected or not.
Visa Cycle: Best to apply for visa 3 months prior to the beginning of

semester
Session begins: September/October

Australia

Application begins: In September or October.

Last date for submission: Most of the applications dates will close between

November and December.

Admission Results: Between November to January. Universities notify
whether you have been selected or not
Visa Cycle: Begins in October and ends in December/January
Session begins: February (Some universities now have mid-term intake in

September as well)

Japan

Application begins: Process begins 7-8 months prior to course start date
Last date for submission: Applications close between October to

November.
Admission Results: Colleges notify you about your admission by December.
Visa Cycle: Submit the application around 4 months prior to semester start
Session begins: January, April, July, October

summer semester and before 15th July for winter semester

Admission Results: August/September for winter or February/March for

summer
Visa Cycle: Best to apply 3 months before the day of travel
Session begins: October (Winter Semester), April (Summer Semester)

Singapore

Application begins: December-February

Last date for submission: March
Admission Results: May- June
Visa Cycle: At least 2 months prior to commencement of your course and

not before 6 months

Session begins: August

Last date for submission: Most applications will close between Mid-

December to January. Some may go until February or March.

Admission Results: March - April
Visa Cycle: Takes 3 to 4 weeks to process. Apply for it at least 2 months
prior to start of semester
Session begins: September (often, the winter session is split into two terms

running September to December and January to April. Various forms of

summer studies may be offered from May to August)

Ireland

Application begins: September/October

Last date for submission: Four months before the session starts
Admission Results: Between March to May
Visa Cycle: At least 8-10 weeks prior to date of departure
Session begins: September (February in some cases)

New Zealand

Application begins: In September or October.

Last date for submission: Most of the applications dates will close between

November and December.

Admission Results: Between November to January.
Visa Cycle: Best to begin 8 to 10 months prior to commencement of course
Session begins: September/October
