Education members of the RemsenburgSpeonk Union Free School District,


Town of Southampton, County of Suffolk, New York, will be held on Tuesday,
May 17, 2016, between the hours of 9:00
A.M. and 9:00 P.M., prevailing time, in the
Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School,
at which time the polls will be opened to
vote by ballot or machine upon the following items:
1. To adopt the annual budget of the
School District for the fiscal year 20162017 and to authorize the requisite portion
thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District.
2. To adopt a resolution that the Board
of Education be authorized to enter into a
contract with Westhampton Beach UFSD
and Eastport/South Manor CSD for the
education of students in Grades 7 through
12 for school year 2016-2017.
3. To adopt a resolution that the Board
of Education be authorized to contract
with the Suffolk Cooperative Library
System for a period of one year only commencing July 1, 2016, for direct access
library service for a sum not to exceed
$265,354, in addition to the sums set forth
in the budget, and to levy the necessary tax
therefor.
4. To elect two (2) members of the
Board for a three (3) year term commencing July 1, 2016, and expiring on June 30,
2019.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a copy of the statement
of the amount of money which will be required to fund the School Districts budget
for 2016-2017 may be obtained by any resident in the District during business hours
beginning on Monday, May 2, 2016, except Saturday, Sunday and holidays, at the
Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School.
Pursuant to Chapter 258 of the Laws of
2008, Section 495 was added to the Real
Property Tax Law and requires the School
District to attach to its proposed budget an
exemption report. Said exemption report,
which will also become part of the final
budget, will show how much of the total
assessed value of the final assessment roll
used in the budgetary process is exempt
from taxation, list every type of exemption granted by statutory authority, and

show the cumulative impact of each type


of exemption, the cumulative amount of
expected to be received as payments in
lieu of taxes (PILOT) and the cumulative
impact of all exemptions granted. In addition, said exemption report shall be posted
on any bulletin board maintained by the
District for public notices and on any website maintained by the District.

HEREBY GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member
of the Board of Education shall be filed
with the Clerk of said School District at
her office in the Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School, Remsenburg, New York,
not later than Monday, April 18, 2016, 5:00
P.M. Each petition shall be directed to the
Clerk of the school district, shall be signed
by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters
of the district, shall state the residence of
each signer, and shall state the name and
residence of the candidate.

absentee ballot can be made between the
hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Monday
through Friday, except holidays, at the office of the District Clerk at the Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School, Mill

than Tuesday, May 10, 2016, if the ballot is
to be mailed to the voter, or no later than
Monday, May 16, 2016, if the ballot is to be
delivered personally to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received by the District
Clerk not later than 5:00 P.M., prevailing
time, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
A list of persons to whom absentee ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in
the office of the District Clerk on and after
May 10, 2016, between the hours of 8:30
A.M. and 4:30 P.M., on weekdays prior to
the day set for the annual election, and on
May 17, 2016, the day set for the election,
and said list will be posted at the polling
place at the election.

to the Real Property Tax Law, and requires
the School District to attach to its proposed
budget an exemption report. Said exemption report, which will also become part
of the final budget, will show how much
of the total assessed value on the final assessment roll used in the budgetary process
is exempt from taxation, list every type of
exemption granted, identified by statutory
authority, and show: (a) the cumulative im-

pact of each type of exemption expressed


either as a dollar amount of assessed value
or as a percentage of the total assessed value on the roll; (b) the cumulative amount
expected to be received from recipients of
each type of exemption as payments in lieu
of taxes or other payments for municipal
services; and (c) the cumulative impact

board maintained by the District for public
notices and on any website maintained by

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that petitions nominating
candidates for the office of member of the
Board of Education shall be filed with the
District Clerk of said School District at her
office in the District Office, 250B Route
25A, Shoreham, New York, not later than
Monday, April 18, 2016, between 9:00 AM
and 5:00 PM, prevailing time. The present
incumbents whose terms are expiring are
Mr. Richard Pluschau and Mr. Sean Beran.
Vacancies on the Board of Education are
