Introduction
CDM-625 Modem FW-0020534E Version 2.1.2 maintenance release fixes various operational issues
found in 2.1.1 and earlier releases.

IMPORTANT

When Upgrading FW from FW12864 version 1.5.3 or older, you MUST ftp new FW
three times in order to program it correctly into both images. After each FTP, you
MUST switch image and reboot modem from the other image.

Features
2.1.1, 2.1.2:
None
2.1.0:
Web-based ping to ping a network address from the modem.
Enter and modify FAST codes using the web interface.
Precision Time Protocol (PTP) for synchronizing time-of-day clocks between PTP-enabled
devices.
o The modem is a PTP boundary clock device. It synchronizes with PTP clocks on LAN
port 2.
o The modem is a 2-step clock. It can synchronize with one-step or other two-step clocks.
o Requires FAST code to activate.
Manage Packet Processor firmware with the front panel.
View the LAN MAC table while in managed switch mode using the web interface.
2.0.2, 2.0.3:
Carrier in Carrier Automatic Power Control (CnC APC) added. This new feature provides
enhanced link availability compared with conventional CnC, but does not suffer the drawbacks of
conventional AUPC, where the composite power on the satellite can become uncontrolled. This
new feature:
Re-balances power between modems at each end of the link for better distribution of link
margins, while keeping the composite power at the satellite constant.
If excessive fading occurs, re-distributes power to maintain link margin.
Supports modems with new HW Rev2.x.
Supports 2048 Bytes Ethernet packet size on modems with HW Rev. 2.x.
Supports Packet Process Managed Switch mode. Requires Packet Processor Firmware v1.3.1.
Added Circuit ID on Modem Web page Title bar for identification.
Supports FTP Get custserv: function to get complete modem configuration and status. Supports
Customer Service Entry remote command. These features are intended for customer support to
use.
Supports force modem reboot through SNMP.
Supports 1:N mode control through SNMP.

Fixes
2.1.2:
Fixed secondary audio channel for modems that have hardware audio support.
Fixed an issue where some modems would drop a small percentage of packets and register them
as Rx CRC Errors.
2.1.1:
Fixed an issue where a small amount of packet loss could occur for large ethernet frames.
The CnC APC and PTP OIDs are now available for use with SNMP.
Fixed an issue where submitting (but not necessarily changing) the IP address while PTP was
enabled would cause the modem to reboot.
2.1.0
Added level 3 QoS priority to the SNMP interface.
Fixed layer 3 QoS controls in the SNMP interface.
For CNC APC, added limits to maximum power to ensure that Tx power remains in a sane range.
Fixed an issue where sometimes the modem does not save the maximum temperature to persistent
storage.
The default ethernet frame size is 1500 instead of a jumbo frame size.
Fixed a synchronization issue with G.703B audio.
Fixed an issue where the modem would not communicate with a CRS-300 redundancy switch.
Added a visual indicator on the front panel to show which firmware image is currently running.
Fixed an issue where the VersaFEC rates on the web could not be changed after changing modes
from IP_ACM to another mode.
Fixed an issue with pause-frame flow control where modem bandwidth could be limited to 4
Mbps when MAC learning was disabled or when sending uni-directional traffic on some
hardware revisions.

Known Issues
VLAN tagging on IEEE1588v2 PTP packets is not supported. PTP devices connected to
CDM-625 modems must not use VLAN tags on PTP packets.
For maximum accuracy, the PTP master synchronizing with the modem on port 2 should send a
sync once every 2 seconds and not any any faster or slower interval.
