Regulatory Information
FCC-15 User Information
The Brocade iSCSI Gateway has been tested and found to comply with the limits of the Class A digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection
against harmful interference when the Brocade iSCSI Gateway is operated in a commercial
environment. The Brocade iSCSI Gateway generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and,
if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to
the radio communications. Operation of the Brocade iSCSI Gateway in a residential area is likely to
cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at the
users own expense.
Warning per EN 55022
The Brocade iSCSI Gateway is a Class A product. In a domestic environment, this product may cause
radio interference, in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
The WEEE directive places an obligation on manufacturers to take back electronics products
at the end of their useful life. For information about the directive and disposal of waste
equipment in the European Union, visit this Web site:
http://www.brocade.com/support/WEEEcompliance.jsp

Safety Notices
Read and understand the following notices before installing the Brocade iSCSI Gateway.
z The power plug must be accessible at all times because it serves as the main
disconnecting vehicle.
z

Unplug the gateway power cord before performing maintenance procedures.

Do not touch the power supplies when their power cords are connected. Line voltages
are present within the power supplies when their cords are connected.

The safety cover is an integral part of this product. Do not operate the unit without the
safety cover firmly in place. Operating the unit without the cover in place will invalidate
the safety approvals and pose a risk of fire and electrical hazards.

This product relies on the buildings wiring for short-circuit (overcurrent) protection.
Ensure that a fuse or circuit breaker no larger than 120 VAC, 15a U.S. (240 VAC, 10A
international) is used on the phase conductors (all current-carrying conductors).

The Brocade iSCSI Gateway is intended to be grounded. Ensure that the gateway is
connected to earth ground during normal use.

There is a danger of explosion if the motherboard battery is replaced incorrectly.

Replace the battery with the same or an equivalent type as recommended by the
manufacturer. Dispose of the used battery according to the manufacturers instructions.

Getting Started

Getting Started

This section describes the basic installation and configuration procedures, including checklists and
troubleshooting tips, for operating the Brocade iSCSI Gateway together with the Brocade iSCSI
Gateway Manager in a SAN environment.

Configuration of Storage Devices

Complete this pre-installation checklist of your storage devices before proceeding with the
Brocade iSCSI Gateway Initial Configuration.
Table 4.

16

Pre-installation Checklist

FC terminator

A terminator is present to terminate the arbitrated

loop.

RAID multiple RAIDSETs

Each RAIDSET (SLICE) is assigned a unique LUN or

target.

RAID multiple channel

All storage targets (LUN or devices) that should be

visible to the gateway are exposed to the controller
channel that is connected to the gateway.

Active/Passive failover

All LUNs are exposed on the active controller, and the

gateway is connected to an interface belonging to it.

Active/Active failover

All controllers interfaces expose the same storage

targets.

FC zoning

The correct WWN of the gateway interface is zoned

with the storage that is designated to be used through
the gateway.

Controller ACL

Controllers are configured to allow gateway FC WWPN

in the list of hosts that can access the presented LUNs.
For test purposes ACL should be disabled. Use the CLI
command fc interface show to list the gateway
WWPN.
