Job Description

Position: Director of Youth Ministries

Objective: Strengthen and nurture the Christian faith of our youth by developing and
encouraging participation in youth groups, mission and outreach program.
Seek to help our youth discover and share their gifts, develop a positive
self-image and respect for differences, serve those in need, cultivate a
personal spirituality, apply faith to daily life, participate in the life of the
church, and develop a personal relationship with God.

Responsibilities: Develop, promote and supervise middle school and high school youth
activities and programs, including coordinating and facilitating regular
youth group meetings on Sundays. Programs include:

• Team building, mission and outreach activities and programs


• Fundraisers for annual mission trip
• Annual weekend mission trip for high school youth
• Annual trips to Silver Lake for the middle school and the high
school youth

Participate in the Youth Council.

Recruit and supervise adult and youth leaders to assist with planning and
implementing activities and programs.

With Board of Christian Education, create an annual program calendar;


coordinating and integrating efforts into the life of the church.

Prepare monthly newsletter article.

Communicate regularly with youth and adult leaders, and youth


participants using the most effective modes of communication.

Accessible to, and in communication with youth, parents, volunteers,


Senior Pastor and Director of Discipleship, and church boards.

Keep current on developments in youth ministry; attend trainings,


including Safe Church.

Attend Board of Christian Education meetings as requested.

With Board of Christian Education, develop and monitor compliance with


annual youth program budget.

Qualifications: Enjoy teaching, leading and empowering youth in their Christian faith
formation.

Experience as a leader of youth ministry preferred, including ability to


develop a variety of opportunities and experiences to draw youth into

active participation in the life, mission, and work of the church; and ability
to recruit, equip and encourage youth and adults to volunteer and
participate in activities and programs.

Theological training, religious studies or commissioning as a minister for


youth and Christian education preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent computer and social networking skills.

Energetic and creative.

Hours: 15 hours weekly for 45 weeks annually (at least five weeks off in the
summer).

Reporting: Report administratively to the Senior Pastor. Responsible to the Senior


Pastor, Personnel Committee, and Church Council.
