UPDATE

MARCH 2016
********************************************************

So it is day 3 and I am finding the protein only days not nearly as hard
as I expected. The protein shake tastes pleasant - a bit like porridge for
breakfast, and I love that it is not sweet. It certainly fills me up and I
havent felt hungry at all. With busy days at work this week, Ive opted
to have two boiled eggs as my lunch. Ive been drinking lots of water,
sometimes with a slice of lemon in the jug for variety, and many
herbal teas. As I didnt want to be dealing with caffeine withdrawal
issues at the same time, I have switched from my daily flat white to
black coffee.

I keep expecting a sugar craving to hit, but it hasnt so far. Maybe its
the Positrim bars? Im onto the third flavour today in my multipack
and finding them OK. Bars arent really my thing but my coach says I
need to eat them to even out the insulin levels. About my only issue so
far is getting the fibre balance right. I am really enjoying walking 1.5
hours a day to make sure I get the 10,000 steps in. However, I may
have to split my time into two walks at either end of the day as I find it

hard to find 1.5 hours for a walk. Two 45 minute walks is more
achievable somehow. My dog is VERY happy!

Biggest buzz so far was getting onto the scales this morning to find my
weight is already down to 80.2kgs (and I was careful to weigh at the
same time of day). I know its early days, but what a great
encouragement. I am beginning to realise that I am a serial overeater
and coupled with a sedentary occupation, its just a creeping weight
disaster. Oh well, Im hoping this 6 weeks will change all that.

UPDATE MARCH 2016
Last week was a particularly hard one for me especially with trying to manage my mahi, my gardens,
my hauora and the blinken hot weather. Thank God today has been a lot cooler.
Anyway, my hauora. Not a problem taking the vitamins and protein shake every morning. In fact I can
feel the benefits already. My energy levels are up, I'm managing to take at least a litre of water a day
(which was an impossibility a month ago), walked 4 days for a 1/2 hour each time and even managed
to get a little jog in on the 3rd day. That's the good news. My problem is the kai. Tried really hard
Monday to Thursday and managed to stick to the proteins, eliminated the bread, rice, white sugar and
potatoes. Friday had to go up to Wairoa for the day and oh my gosh, the mini quiches, asparagus rolls
and club sandwiches crept in. Arrived home that night to a koura waiting to be devoured (at least it's
protein). And later that night, Wendy drops off another koura and paua. And the next morning, Hira
comes home with the fluffiest fried bread, you can imagine. I tell ya, it's all hard to resist these
temptations. But the good news, is that I managed to register my team in the 1/4 Iron Maori. Yay. So,
brother Cordry Huata is our swimmer, Ann Rafealov buddy, you're doing the cycle and I'm doing the
run. Was out this morning at 6am doing my hikoi. Got a doctors apointment in the morning and he
will be giving back the results of my blood and cholestoral tests. Will also be doing another weigh in.

*********************************************************************************************************
Every year as a New Years resolution, my hauora has always been tops on my list. I usually
start with a roar (all committed) and end with a fizz way before the year is up. As my age
creeps closer to the 60's mark, I become more and more conscious of all the negative
effects, carrying around too much weight is having on my over-all wellbeing. Over the years,
I've tried so hard to address this problem, my proudest moment being in 2012 when I
completed 1/2 Iron Maori Individual and losing a total of 26kgs in preparation for it. Sadly
though, the kgs have crept back on. To cut to the chase then, it's what am I going to do
about it, if it's a concern for me. Yes folks, I have got a plan in place for myself (yet again). I
want to do the Iron Maori again, but not the 1/2 individual (that nearly killed me). Probably will
be the 1/4 but as part of a team. So anyone who wants to join me, holla.
Also, I'm not a fan of medical drugs but have reaped the benefits of alternative healing, such
Rongoa Maori and vitamins. I'm going to get back on to taking a glass of kawakawa every
day. Also the other thing I've done is got back onto my vitamins - the Nutriway range. And I
am so fortunate to have the best coach (Ann Rafealov) monitoring my progress over the next

6 months. Ann you might like to join me in the team for Iron Maori. By the way people, Ann
use to be a swimmer representing New Zealand in the 70's.

UPDATE FEB 2016
Just wanted to send you some news about Huiaand to say a
massive thanks for the chance to get her onto all the products.
Huia purchased some double XX and omega 3 when she joined as
an IBO about 2 or 3 weeks ago..

When I saw her yesterday I could see a marked difference in her
face and not so much redness and droopy in the eyes..
Huia said she was amazed at how good she felt..
I went over the healthpointe programme and gave her a sheet of
paper which sets out what to eat for meals for the 6 weeks
progm.
We set up Facebook as a way to communicate daily..
And once a week we will physically meetperhaps to do a walk
together or to do a swim
as she has set herself a goal to do the Iron Maori in November of
this year.

I set up her phone with an app that measures her stepsand she
can record her water intake and heart rate and such..
I took some photos of her in her workout gear
When I showed her the photos she was conscious of how much
she needs to do to get her health going in the right direction. !!!
She was going to see the nurse today and get bloods done and
weight ...

I talked about her coming to the next Healthpointe we are having
here in Havelock NorthMarch 21st

And about coming to the next BDS in Palmerston North so she can
meet you and thank you for this wonderful gift
I talked about her being the role model for so many other woman
here in the Bay
So Huia is pumped and motivated she told me her 2 brothers
are on diabetic medication
And that she wants to show them how she is going to turn her
health around in the next 6 weeks to inspire them to do
something about their health situation..

So its all go here..
So grateful for the chance to help Huia improve her health by way
of the very generous scholarship you have given her.

Last week I bumped into a lady who was in our business several
years ago
I was speaking to her about Health and the Healthpointe
scholarship

She is keen to do something about her health and to be a role
model for Maori women..
Huia is a teacher at the local Kura Kaupapaand is prominent
leader in the Maori community.. here in Hawkes Bay..
She recognises that she has health issues because of her weight ..
and remembers how fabulous the vitamins were when she was in
the Amway business years ago

I have been out to see her and speak with her about her health
and to see what we can do to improve things..
She has signed up again in the Amway business and I have got her
onto the double XX and omega 3 already..

She has some of the protein powder and bars and is ready to
embark on the Health pointe programme..
She is booked into the Doctor this week coming to have her blood
test and number done..
She is going to get photos done this weekend and to take a bunch
of measurement

I will be her coach and we have already arranged to meet once a
week. And to text me daily..

H has set a goal to drop 25+ kgs and to be well and fit enough to
do the Iron Maori in November of this year..
She was excited when I asked if I could put her name forward for
the Scholarship
As she is a prominent Maori women in the community it would be
amazing if she can be on the scholarship

Her success with Healthpointe would be a catalyst for other Maori
women to improve their health and address their weight issues
too..
Hope you will consider her for the scholarship..
