Chinese Government ScholarshipChinese University Program Introduction 2016

Chinese Government ScholarshipChinese University Program is a full


scholarship established by Chinas Ministry of Education to support Chinese
universities in specific provinces or autonomous regions to enroll outstanding
international students for graduate studies in China. At present, a total of 273
Chinese universities, including the China University of Mining and
Technology (CUMT) in Xuzhou, are designated to undertake this program.

Program Categories, Duration and Language of Instruction


a. This scholarship only supports graduate programs. Scholarship duration is
two to three years for masters programs and three to four years for doctoral
programs.
b. All programs at CUMT are instructed in Chinese.
c. The scholarship duration specified in the Admission Letter, covering major
study and Chinese language study, cannot be extended in general.

Scholarship Coverage
- tuition,
-free on-campus dormitory accommodationusually a twin room;
-stipend;
Masters students: CNY 3,000 per month;
Doctoral students: CNY 3,500 per month.
Within the scholarship duration, registered scholarship students will receive a stipend from their
host university each month.

Application Deadline
Applicants should finish application before April 15.

Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
-be a citizen of a country other than the Peoples Republic of China, and be in
good health;
-meet academic criteria (academic grade point average should reach above
75 out of 100 or GPA3.0 out of 4.0.);
-be a bachelors degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for masters
programs;
-be a masters degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral
programs.

Application Procedure
Step1: Please finish your application online for Chinese Government
Scholarship: http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua and click Application Online
to log in;

Step2: Send your application documents to CUMT by mail
Application Documents (in duplicate)
a. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarshipin Chinese or
English.
b. Notarized highest diploma (photocopy): Prospective diploma winners
must submit official proof of student status by their current schools. Documents
in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized

Chinese or English translations.


c. Academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or
English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
d. A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English with a minimum
of 800 words.
e. Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or
associate professors.
f. Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of their own
works.
Applicants for fine arts programs must submit a CD of their own works which
include two sketches, two color paintings and two other works.
g. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a
photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in
English (the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form designed
by the Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded
from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org). The
physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the

Foreigner

Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the


signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a
sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate
time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
h. Applicants with valid HSK Certificate should enclose it in the application
package.

The above documents should be bound on top left corner (in duplicate) and
sent directly to CUMT, who will forward the nominated documents to China
Scholarship Council (CSC) before April 30
Step3: CUMT will review the application documents and decide on the
nominated candidates before April 30.
Step4: Nominated candidates will be officially awarded Chinese Government
Scholarship with the approval of CSC.
CSC will send, before June 30 , Admission Letter and Visa Application
Form for Study in China (JW201) of the approved applicants to CUMT, who
will forward the documents to the scholarship winners.
Notification
a. Students are not permitted, in general, to change their specialties,
host universities or the duration of study as specified in the Admission Letter
once they agree to accept the scholarship.
b. If applicants fail to register before the deadline for registration, their
scholarship will not be reserved.
c. Each individual applicant is eligible for only one scholarship. CSC is
authorized to award only one scholarship to each individual applicant
nominated by more than one university.
