SSC CGL - How to Apply


SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has announced the recruitment of a total of 30 posts in
Group B and Group C through its notification of Common Graduate Level exam (CGLE) for
2016. Applications for the same can only be made ONLINE through the websites:
http://ssconline2.gov.in and http://sscregistration.nic.in. The applications are to be filled in two
parts Part I (basic details) and Part II (fee payment and uploading of photograph and
signature). The applications can be made till 5:00 pm on 10th March 2016 for Part I and till
5:00 pm on 14th March 2016 for Part II.
The application process is as illustrated below:

Step 1 : Pre-requisites
There are a few things that you need to look at or keep with you before starting to fill the application
form. These are:
1. Check your eligibility : Please check if you are eligible to apply and the posts for which you
may be eligible to do so, and ascertain the category under which you wish to claim age
relaxation, if any.
2. Post Preference : Please decide the priority wise list of posts you wish to apply for. Basically,
you should apply for all the posts that you are eligible for, keeping the most preferred post at
position 1 and least preferred at the end.
3. Documents: You will require various documents to fill up your application. These are
Matriculation or Secondary exam or 10th class board marks certificate, Aadhar card (if
available), Service details for Ex-Servicemen, Certificates pertaining to educational
qualifications (including 12th mark sheet, combined mark-sheet for graduation (with total
percentage marks across all years of graduation) and similar documents related to any other
qualifications, documents related to work experience, especially the latest ones.
4. Fee payment related : In case you wish to pay online, then details of your Credit / Debit card
or SBI Net Banking (if available)
5. Scanned documents : Scan of latest photograph and signature. Guidelines for scanned copies
is as under. Do ensure that while changing the width and height of the scans, the aspect ratio
remains the same, otherwise, the image will be distorted.

Step 2 : Filling Part I of the application


The process to fill Part I of the application is as below:
1. Accessing Part I registration form :
Click on the following link http://sscregistration.nic.in/mainmenu2.php. Then Click on Click Here
link to open the Part I registration form.
2. Fill Details on Page 1:
First select your Center Code, or the city from which you wish to take the exam. Then refer to your
Matriculation / Secondary School exam / 10th mark-sheet or passing certificate to fill the next four
details of name, fathers name, mothers name and date of birth. Choose relevant options for the next
three fields. Fill in your Aadhar no. if available. If you are applying under Ex-Serviceman category,
select Yes for this field and enter your length of service and date of discharge. For the next field, if
you are applying under physically handicapped category, then choose yes and enter the code (OH, HH
or VH). If you are suffering from Cerebral Palsy, choose yes and choose whether you would be using a
scribe. A scribe is someone who can fill in the ovals in the OMR sheet for you. If you fall under any
categories for whom the application fee of Rs. 100/- is exempted, then choose yes for Fee Exemption
Claimed and enter your category code. These are available on clicking View Details link. Select
yes if you belong to any Minority Community (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians
(Parsees) or Jains), else select No.
Then, the last portion of this page of the form Postal Address is just for providing your contact
details. Ensure that you fill them correctly, especially your postal address and email id, as these will be
the primary modes of communication related to the SSC CGL application and recruitment process.
After filling this, just click on Continue button to move to the next page.
3. Fill Details on Page 2:
This page would require you to refer to your priority list of posts, educational qualifications related
documents and work experience related documents. If you had these ready, it should not take much
time to fill in the required details. The post codes are available in the View details link provided in
the Preference of Posts section. Upon completing these fields, click on Continue to be taken to the
next page.
4. Confirm submission of Part I of the registration form:
you will get a summary of all the information filled in the last two steps. Please check this

thoroughly, as nothing in the form can be changed after accepting the declaration at the end of this
page.
In case, you wish to make any corrections, click Update button and make the relevant changes and
come back to this page. Once all information has been verified to be correct, go to the bottom of the
page and enter the captcha text in the field provided next to the image and click on I Agree button to
complete the Part I of the registration process.
5. Registration Id:
After clicking the I Agree button, as per previous step, you will be taken to a page which provides
your registration id. Please make a note of this and take a print out or save the page in your computer
or mobile. This registration id will be required when you start filling up the Part II of this registration
process.

Step 3 : Filling Part II of the application


The process to fill Part II of the application is as below:
1. Accessing Part II registration form : Click on the following link
http://sscregistration.nic.in/upload1.php. Enter your Registration Id and Date of Birth and click
Submit button.
2. Upload Photograph : upload the image of scanned photograph.
3. Upload Signature : upload the scanned image of your signature.
4. Submit Fee : In case you had chosen to be exempt from submitting fee during filling up details
on page 1 of Part I registration, then skip this process and click Submit to complete your Part
II registration. For other candidates, you can choose to submit a fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One
Hundred only) through any of the following modes:
1. SBI net banking : If you have a netbanking account from SBI, then choose this option and
complete the process to submit the fee. You will require your netbanking id and password and
also registered mobile to receive the OTP to complete this process. After a successful
transaction, click on the button at the bottom to complete your Part II of the registration process.
2. Credit / debit card : if you have a Credit or debit card from any bank, you can choose this
option to submit the fee through the same. Go to Step e below.
3. Cash deposit through SBI challan: In case you do not wish to use the above two online
options to pay the requisite application fee, then choose this option and click on button below to
complete registration. Now, you will be provided a pre-filled challan. Take a print out of this
challan and go to the nearest SBI Bank branch, after 24 hours of filling the form, to deposit the
fee. Note : the last day to get a print out of the challan is 13th March 2016. Once the fee has
been deposited, open your Part II registration again (as per point a. above), and opt in Pay by
cash option and click on Continue button on the payment page. You will be redirected a
window where you need to fill in the required details of the fee deposited. These detail will be
available on the receipt that the Bank would provide after depositing your fee. The copy of the

duly received challan should be retained and may be required to be produced.
4. Complete registration: Click on the button at the bottom of the page to complete your
registration process. An email will be sent to your email id to confirm your successful
registration. Take a printout of this email and carry it to the examination hall.

Step 4 : Admission Ticket and other details


1. Roll numbers will be issued to all applicants, and the list shall be put up on the websites of
Regional offices atleast 2 weeks before the exam date.
2. Admission Certificates, along with time table and venue of examination for each candidate will
also be made available on the websites of regional offices at least 2 weeks before the exam date.
3. Therefore, you are requested to check the regional office (depending upon the exam center
chosen), to note your roll number as well as to download and take a print out of the Admission
Certificate. You need to carry these, along with, 2 photographs and an original ID to the exam
hall. In case, you are unable to download the Admission Certificate till one week before the
exam, you should contact the concerned regional office with your roll number, name, date of
birth and name of examination applied to.
