Please mark your assignment with your name and other
relative information on the Assignment Cover Sheet.

Important Note:

Please submit your report to your lab TUTOR before 5PM.

Assignment Goal:
1. To determine the discharge coefficient of the venturi meter.
2. To measure flow rate with venturi meter
3. To demonstrate Bernoullis Theorem
Based on the experimental results acquired in the fluid mechanic laboratory, write a report
on your investigation to include:
1. Introduction and experimental procedure: briefly introduce the apparatus used for
this experiment and provide a brief description of the experimental procedure.
2. Section 4.2, calculate (a) theoretical flow rate Qi, (b) the discharge coefficient based
on the data acquired from the lab, and, (c) plot Q a vs Qi and obtain the discharge
coefficient of Cd.
3. Section 4.3, (a) calculate the venturi meter flow rate of each data by applying the
discharge coefficient obtained, and, (b) compare the volumetric flow rate with
calculated venturi meters flow rate and compute the percentage of errors.
4. Section 4.4, demonstrate Bernoullis Theorem and determine the difference
between two calculated velocities
5. Show a sample calculation of each calculated result and tabulate all calculated test
results in individual tables.
6. Conclusions: compare them with what you would expect, and explain the
experimental errors.
Deliverable:
Word processed report detailing results of your investigation to meet the above criteria,
with illustrations and Harvard referencing (page limit: maximum of 10 pages).

Suggested format for the report is: (total marks = 10)
