There are two kinds of

prophecies that Yechezkel has:
the prophecies about
destruction those about
salvation. Our Haftarah focuses
on the prophecies of salvation. !

while thinking about what our

personal salvation might look
like, we imagine it much more
glamorous and dierent than
reality, as life itself is filled with
many technical details. !

What would you expect to be

in such a prophecy? Something
like the Vision of the Valley of
Dry Bones or about us returning
home to the Land of Israel.!

However, those technical

sides of life are significant and
special. For example: the dream
of getting married, always
thinking it will look like the
emoji with hearts in its eyes,
when in fact marriage is
something that requires
constant maintenance, including
(by the two) washing the dishes
and laundry, or dreaming of
children and thinking it's like
dressing a doll with a smell of
roses, when it's not always the
scent of roses.!

Instead, the Haftarah speaks

of sacrifices in the Beit
HaMikdash, how to give
korbanot, and who sacrifices
what.!
Didn't we cover that in
Vayikra? True, the Haftarah
talks about the Third Beit
HaMikdash, but what is the
need to mention all these
technical details?!
I think we can learn
something about our life from
this Haftarah: Many times,

It is a glamorous and special

salvation, not because it lacks
technicality, but rather, because
of the technical details, which
make it in to what it truly is.!

Israel Update: Yom

Ha'Atzmaut Celebration
Over the past week, fourteen men and
women were honored by being chosen to
light the torches at the ceremony of Yom
Ha'Atzmaut (the Israeli Independence
Day) this year. Those chosen include:
Rona Ramon, the widow of Ilan Ramon,
the first Israeli astronaut; Sergeant Alison
Bresson, a combat soldier in the Border
Police force who foiled a terrorist attack
at the intersection of Tapuach; Sergeant
Roberto Pera Osa, of the Kfir Brigade, a
lone soldier from Colombia; Nili and

This week in Jewish

History: 1 Nissan!
On this date, the
inauguration period was
completed for the
Tabernacle, the portable
sanctuary that accompanied
the Jewish people in the
desert following their Exodus
from Egypt. On this day,
Moses' brother, Aaron,
began serving as the Kohen
Gadol (High Priest).
Tragically, however, two of
Aaron's sons, Nadav and
Avihu, died after entering the
Holy of Holies unauthorized.
