Re: Invitation to Tour Vireo Healths Medical Cannabis Cultivation Facility
Dear Secretary Clinton:
On behalf of Vireo Health of New York, one of the five companies licensed to manufacture and sell
medical cannabis in New York State, I write to personally invite you to tour our state-of-the-art Medical
Cannabis Cultivation Facility conveniently located 45 minutes away from the state capital in Fulton
Countys Tryon Technology Park.
The New York State Compassionate Care Act, signed into law in July of 2014, made New York the 23rd
state to allow for the medicinal use of cannabis. As of January 7, 2016, medical cannabis products are available
to patients, certified by their physicians, suffering from debilitating and life-threatening diseases like cancer,
ALS and HIV/AIDS.
The tour will provide you with an opportunity to learn about our newly implemented medical cannabis
program and meet our team of scientists, cultivators and lab technicians. At the conclusion of your tour, we will
invite you to make a public statement that clarifies your position on medical cannabis. Specifically, how would
your administration resolve the current conflict between state and federal cannabis laws? In addition, if cannabis
is listed as a Schedule I drug when you assume office, will you commit to its reclassification during your first
100 days in office?
If you are unable to visit our facility before New Yorks upcoming primary, we ask that you make a
public statement on this issue in advance of April 19th. Patients, physicians, and countless New Yorkers want to
know what actions you will take as president to protect and ensure the long-term success of our states medical
marijuana program.
We look forward to working with your campaign staff on identifying a convenient time for your visit
and with the Secret Service on coordinating the security-related details. In the meantime, please do not
hesitate to contact me with any questions at (518) 326-6400.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
