INTERVIEW: MEDITATION & HYPNOSIS FOR A BETTER LIFE

DAN JANKOVICH, HYPNOTIST

Hypnosis is a form of communication with our inner
self through our thoughts and feelings.
This is why hypnosis is a totally natural and safe
method of change ...
Novine No. 1329 - Toronto, 22. Jun 2012.

Im talking with Dan, who has been practicing hypnosis for many years.

What is Hypnosis?
Although hypnosis is as old as mankind, very little is known about it in everyday
life. It is well known that the ancient Greeks and Egyptians used it thousands of
years ago for therapeutic purposes.
Hypnosis is a form of communication with
our inner self through our thoughts and feelings.
This is why hypnosis is a totally natural and safe
method of change. It is also a pleasant method
that helps us to get rid of deeply repressed
negative feelings and replace them with good
and positive ones.
A hypnotist is only a guide that helps you
reach that state of mind. You are the one who
decides to make it happen and decide for yourself whether you will cooperate with
the hypnotist or terminate the session.
It is one method that helps to bypass the conscious part of the mind by using
suggestions to change the subconscious. The simplest explanation - you exchange
negativity in the subconscious with the positive thinking.

The success of hypnotherapy is always in your hands, since you can easily refuse
the suggestions for change, even if you are in a deep state of hypnosis.
All preserved information from earliest childhood affects our thoughts, feelings,
moods, behavior, relationships, life decisions, choice of partners, and all aspects of
life. Here are all our habits, whether good or bad, and all of our positive and
negative behavior. It is very difficult for the conscious mind to fight against this
behavior, because it is deeply rooted in the subconscious.
Hypnosis is a state which aligns conscious and subconscious functions of our
mind and thus re-establishes control over bad habits. All your life is preserved in
the subconscious mind. If we want something to change, we have to get to the
subconscious mind and there make the change.
The use of hypnosis is one of the possible methods of communication with
subconscious. It is a very productive way to influence what our inner self thinks
about itself. Roughly speaking, our negative subconscious thoughts are replaced
with positive ones.

Tell me what hypnosis can help us with?

Hypnosis is used most to eliminate various emotional problems that create
unpleasant feelings and bad habits. Knowing that your subconscious controls all
functions of your body, it is entirely logical that hypnosis corrects most problems
for which there is no physical or biological
reason.
Hypnosis is successful in:
- Control of stress, learning how to relax your
mind and body,
- Increasing self-confidence, freedom from
shyness,
- Letting you be free from a variety of fears,
- Healing emotional wounds/traumas from the
past,
- Balancing of your emotional life,
- Weight control and elimination of addictions.

How did you begin to do hypnosis?

Ive been practicing hypnosis and other techniques such as NLP (Neurolinguistic programming) and EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) for

several years. These skills have interested me for a long time, but I did not have
enough time to master it.
Ten years ago I was involved in a serious car accident that completely changed
my life. After several years of therapy I decided to take my life and future in my
own hands. Doctors have helped me as much as they could, but I figured that if I
did not do something, my life would fall into the abyss of chronic depression, and
we all know how depressed people end up.
I studied everything that I could to help myself with only the 5% of power and
will that I had left. I started with EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and
reprocessing) technique, NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming), EFT Tapping
(Emotional Freedom Technique), visualization, and continued with hypnosis,
guided meditation and FasterEFT technique.
I learned a lot of theory, studying the available literature and video courses from
these areas. In order to also gain practical knowledge, I finished an NGH hypnosis
course in Toronto. I continued training in the U.S. and completed an advanced
course in regression.
I became a member of the NGH (National Guild of Hypnotists), which is the
largest and oldest (founded in 1950) hypnotherapy membership organization in the
world with over 12,000 members in 72 countries. The technical term that has been
given to me is: "NGH Certified Consulting Hypnotist."
In July, Im going back to America for a
course in "FasterEFT" method that combines
in one package NLP, Hypnosis and EFT.

What is the cause of most of our

emotional problems?
Most housewives know what a pressure
cooker is. If we put in water or food and
hermetically close it and put it on the stove to
heat water or cook a dinner that meal will be
cooked very quickly and the pressure cooker
will start to produce noise and release steam.
Imagine what would happen if we clog the
pots hole for the steam release. Probably the
pressure cooker will explode very quickly and
do a great deal of damage around it.
Imagine for a moment, that we are the pot

and that our negative feelings and stress cause the cooking of our emotional being.
In the course of life we are constantly learning, especially us men, not to show our
negative emotions, not to release them, so sooner or later most of us start to ignore
them when they occur.
They teach us that when a problem or its manifestation sends emotional signals
that they want to tell us something, that we shouldnt try to solve it, but to bury our
heads in the sand like an ostrich, and hope that nothing bad will happen, and that
the emotional problem will be resolved by some miracle. In other words they teach
us to hermetically close our emotional pot, which is contrary to all laws of physics
and common sense. And just as the pot will explode if it is completely closed, so we
will sooner or later explode too, because nobody has taught us that simple law of
physics that our emotional pot or balloon has to be vented in a timely manner in
order not to explode.
It is a miracle that our emotional pot withstand, many years of constant
overheating, abuse and overheating, especially for us older people, who have stress
of our long life over our head.
And when it comes to the emotional explosion of indignation, rage, anger and
frustration, almost no one tells us, that it was okay, but they blame us for it and say
that we must learn to control ourselves through anger management and to ignore all
the laws of common sense.
The guilt inflates us even more and leads to silent boiling. This suppression of
emotion is especially prevalent in North America, and in my opinion is the reason
why people break more often here than in some other countries where they can
empty or release them more easily.
One of the ways the old and the accumulated negative emotions and traumas of
life could be released is through guided meditation and hypnosis. If it is not done,
they are accumulating even more over the life time.
Also, through meditation and self-hypnosis we achieve harmony of body and
soul, and thus balances our emotional life. By practicing self-hypnosis and
meditation you learn how to relax your mind and body. When encountering lifes
inevitable problems you learn how to release steam / emotions whenever you want
and never let yourself explode and lose control over your life and gradually achieve
the desired happiness, enjoyment in life and inner peace.

You mentioned that there are some everyday life situations

when we are in a state of hypnosis and that we are not aware
of.

We enter the same state "hypnosis" during professional massage and meditation,
but nobody tells us that, so we are not afraid, and it happens many times during the
day or when we watch something we love.
We all have been in hypnosis many times but we're
not aware of it. During the day we slide repeatedly into
hypnosis; for example, in the first waking moment, just
before we fall asleep, when the imagination wanders to
the past or the future so that we are completely unaware
of reality, when we look at an object and ignore
everything around us, when we are engrossed in
watching a movie, when we drive cars and do not
remember how we arrived somewhere, etc.

How does hypnosis solve problems?

Hypnosis is not a magic wand that can cure all diseases. It helps to be completely
cleaned of accumulated negative emotions, trauma, and stress from the whole of our
lives, which are stored in the subconscious and thus solve the numerous problems
that result from that.
We're not aware of what is preserved in the subconscious, and we see a result
that hinders us in life. This is why we act--we do some things in life that we do not
want to and do not know why we behave that way.
By using hypnosis and guided meditation we establish the necessary
communication between conscious-logic and subconscious-emotions.
Success depends primarily on how much you really want to change and are ready
to cooperate.
Our life consists of an unlimited number of situations. Each situation causes
positive or negative emotions in our subconscious that affect the formation of
subconscious behavior. For a healthy and successful life it is necessary to focus on
positive feelings, but usually the opposite happens.
Emotions are like water. Good feelings such as joy and satisfaction flow through
us with no resistance, but negative emotions are dammed up and stored in our deep
subconscious, where they accumulate and continue to build up pressure in order to
be felt and expressed.
Although we are not aware of these trapped emotions, they always overpower all
our conscious thoughts and decisions. Such feelings make our lives unbearable until
we can break free from them.

What Happens During a Hypno-Session?

The first session with a client consists of three parts.
1.) Talk before the session:
During this period you will fill out the basic forms, and then I will explain what
hypnosis is and how it will help you. Then we discuss the problem, its
manifestation and a goal that you expect to accomplish through hypnosis.
2.) Hypnotic session:
I'll introduce you gently into a deep state of mental and physical relaxation.
You'll be very aware of just what is happening with you. We'll start with the
process of creating healthy habits and emotions, which are necessary to achieve
your goal.
3.) Upon completion of the session:
You will remember everything that happened during the session, you will be
extremely fresh and in a good mood. This is the time when we discuss your
impressions and thoughts and make an appointment for our next session.

Why do you think hypnosis is shrouded in mystery?

Very few secrets stay secrets over time. Hypnosis is one of those secrets that has
been seen as some miracle through history of mankind or has been intentionally
hidden from other people. Perhaps that is the reason why people still wrongly
interpret and imagine it as something mystical and magical.
Hypnosis is a fast and completely natural method because it does not use any
drugs to achieve positive change! This is the reason why many people prefer that
hypnosis stay a well-guarded secret!
Most of our emotional problems are hidden in the subconscious, and when we
get signals that they want to tell us something, we are confused and do not know
what to do with them.
Most of us, instead of solving the problem, mask the problem through food,
alcohol, drugs, excessive work, buying unnecessary things, etc., which increases
consumption and as one clever American hypnotist said, feeds the pockets of
corporations.
This is probably the real reason that no one teaches us how to cope with various
emotional problems but instead rub their hands as their pockets get filled.
I know that some successful politicians, and I get the impression that many
others, are widely using hypnosis but we do not know about it. Of course it is

beneficial to them that you are afraid of hypnosis, so that they can freely use it for
their own hidden agendas.

Tell us some interesting experiences from your practice!

One person told me during the session: I feel so awesome, Its like being in
heaven and I want to stay longer in this state!
One doctor found out why he was having the problem of unstable character.
During the regression he learned that this was due to a childhood trauma.
Another client resolved trauma and fears of persecution from childhood,
during a session in a Tim Hortons.

What are the most common misconceptions for patients

about hypnosis?
- Fear of hypnosis!
The fear of hypnosis is the fear of losing control, because "many believe while
we are in a state of hypnosis and sleep we are completely in the power of the
hypnotist!" COMPLETELYWRONG!
Hypnosis simply has nothing to do with sleep. We are aware of everything
that is happening around us, we hear more and feel better. In other words, the
concentration of all our senses is working 120%.
Because of mental alertness, despite the physical relaxation, you always have
full control and can stop the trance whenever you want to.
You have to allow hypnosis to happen, because without our will it is
impossible for us to be hypnotized, and during the hypnotic induction, clients
have to -- with complete trust (100%) -- follow the hypnotist and follow his
advice and suggestions.

- How does it feel to be in hypnotized?

Because we are mentally and physically relaxed we feel that our mind is
drifting away, thoughts are rare or disappear. Our consciousness is narrowed,
but awake. We hear every word and sound, we can speak and we are aware of
the time and place, but all our attention is voluntarily focused on the
suggestions.
Its a very pleasantly relaxed state!

- I'm afraid that I will tell the hypnotist a secret.

The fear is unnecessary. You have full control over what you are saying.
If you do not want to tell something you will not do it.

- Can anyone be hypnotized?

Yes, everyone can be hypnotized if s/he allows it. The greatest enemy is fear
of hypnosis. If a person is afraid of hypnosis, it is impossible to hypnotize that
person.

- What is self-hypnosis?
It is a state of hypnosis you can learn how to achieve (like meditation) and is
achieved without anybodys help when you learn it.

Plans for the future...

I am a very ambitious person. I was like that as an electrical engineer, computer
programmer and teacher, occupations that because of my neck and back injuries I
cannot do anymore, so I continue my journey towards uncovering the secrets of the
human mind.
The more I get to know about it, the more amazed I'm with the knowledge that
the brain is the most powerful computer ever made, a biological one.
Currently I am dedicated to studying meditation and "FasterEFT" and I have no
idea where the desire for knowledge and desire to help people will take me.

Your treatments are free!

Treatments with better hypnotists are very expensive and cost up to $200 per
hour. Many professional hypnotists that I have met so far are money driven and
their knowledge is generally not too great. Honestly, I dont know who I should go
to for help if I need it.
My wish is to help as many people as possible to get rid of emotional problems
and to begin to enjoy life.
Believe me, most of our problems lie in the head.
