India

Typical Indian food


Indian foods main ingredients are herbs and spices. Basic meals are
made of rice and wheat. Peppers and the black pepper are the most
important ingredients to prepare Indian food.
Now we are going to show you a typical menu from India.
Raita
For appetizer we have "raita", cold sauce that it's typical from the
Indian food. We can use it for spicing some dishes from the Indian
kitchen. To make it we need:
-3 cups of natural yoghurt
-4 bananas in little pieces
-lemon juice
-3 tablespoons grated desiccated coconut
-1 teaspoon cumin
-1/8 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
-flaked almonds

To prepare raita first you must peel bananas and cut into small pieces
in a bowl, then mix all ingredients except the seasoning. Then garnish
with almonds and toasted cumin. Finally serve cold.

Lassi
Then we have the lassi which is typical of North Indian kitchen, can be
sweet or savory, and is used to accompany food. Here are three
varieties of lassi: mango, spicy blackberry and almond.
In this case we prepared the mango lassi.
To prepare mango lassi need:
-3 Cups of natural yoghurt
-1 Cup of milk
-1 Cup of ice water
-1 Cup of natural mango pulp
-1/2 cup of sugar
-2 Tablespoons of pistachios
We blend the ingredients until we have a foamy texture. Refrigerate
and serve.
For blackberry and almond lassi we have:
-4 Cups of natural yoghurt
-1 Cup ice water
-1 Cup blueberries
-1 / 2 cup slivered almonds
-1 Tablespoon of honey
-1 Pinch of cumin
Liquefy all ingredients then refrigerate and serve with almonds.

Finally for spice lassi we need:


-4 Cups of natural yogurt
-2 Cups of ice water
-2 Teaspoons cumin
-1 Teaspoon salt
-1 / 2 cup fresh mint leaves
Liquefy the ingredients refrigerate and serve with mint leaves.

Chicken
Also as main course we have Biryani chicken , which is a type of food
seasoned with many spices. To prepare Biryani chicken we need:
-rice
-1 teaspoon salt
-10 cups water
-1 chicken,
-5 tablespoons oil or butter
-2 onions
-3 cloves garlic, minced
-1 piece chopped ginger
-2 or 3 green chilies
-6 tablespoons biryani spices
-half cup of creamy yogurt

-2 large tomatoes chopped


-chopped cilantro
-1 lemon, cut into small pieces
-A strand of saffron soaked in a tablespoon of warm water
-1 tablespoon Ghee

For preparation, bone the chicken then cut into small pieces. Then fry
the onion, add the ginger and garlic. Add the chicken pieces, fry
chicken until golden brown on all sides. Add yogurt, tomatoes, lemon
and biyani.. While the chicken cooking, boil water for the rice and
cook it with plenty of garlic and onion Then mix the chicken with rice.
Bake until done and serve.

Samosas
Finally, for dessert we have chocolate samosas from India, to prepare
this we need:
-flour
-1 teaspoon cardamom
-1 teaspoon cinnamon
-2 tablespoons vegetable oil
-80 ml of warm water
-250g. melted chocolate
-sugar

First to prepare the dough mix the flour, cardamom and cinnamon,
along with oil and water, this is allowed to stand for 30 minutes. After
the thirty minutes filled the mixture with melted chocolate.
Then we can fry or bake. Finally, sprinkle with sugar and serve.

INDIAN FESTIVALS

Our main festivals are :


Holi-Holi, its a two-day festival and represents the victory of
good over evil and the spring harvest, its known as the colors festival

The Diwali is a religious festival, also known as "the festival of


lights", which holds members of various religions in India, as
Hinduism, Sikhism, and Jainism. It lasts 5 days and represents the
Hindu new year.
(Lights, represent the victory of good over evil and light over
darkness).
Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival of 11 days. It is believed that Lord
Ganesh gives his presence on Earth to all his devotees during this
festival. It is the day in which Shiva told his son Ganesha as superior
over all the gods, except for Vishnu, Lakshmi, Shiva and Parvati.
Ganesha is widely worshipped as the God of wisdom, prosperity and
good fortune and traditionally invoked at the beginning of any new
company or at the start of the March.

India and sport

Formally, the national Indian sport is the field hockey. The field hockey
Indian team won the world championship in 1975. It has also won
eight gold medals, a silver medal and two bronze medals in the
Olympic Games.
However, the most popular sport in India is the cricket. The cricket
Indian team won the world championship in 1983. The cricket national
Indian cups are the Ranji Cup, the Duleep Cup, the Deodhar Cup and
the Iran Cup. Tennis and chess are also getting more popular and
soccer is popular only in some Indian places.
Traditional sports are kabaddi, kho kho y gilli-danda, and traditional
martial arts are kalaripayatu and varma kalai.
