At the 2009 NAB Show, Calrec Audio unveil Apollo, providing more than twice
the processing power than Calrec’s Alpha platform and a channel count that sets
a new industry benchmark. Apollo not only expands Calrec’s award-winning
Bluefin HDSP and Hydra networking systems, but also introduces a revolutionary
control surface that takes the concept of user configurability to new levels.
Apollo utilises Bluefin2, the next generation of Bluefin HDSP, Calrec has also developed Calrec’s Hydra network, using a a large-

Calrec Audio Consolidates Position in the Americas
Calrec has announced that its FY 2008-
2009 Americas sales remained strong in
spite of the weak economy, enabling it to
solidify its position as the leading console
manufacturer for high-end television
broadcast applications. Calrec, one of the
professional brands under D&M Holdings,
ascribed its success to the continued
loyalty of its customers, the addition of a
full-time team in the U.S. in the past year,
and the strong support of its
representatives and distributors.
“Whether they operate from a studio or a
truck, broadcasters must have rock-solid
dependability. A live broadcast audio
console is truly a mission-critical piece of
equipment,” said Courtney Spencer, Senior
Vice President, Business and Professional
Group, Americas, for D&M Holdings.
“That’s why ultimately, Calrec’s sales
success is always based on the quality
and the reputation of the consoles. There
are many leading mixers who know and
love the consoles and don’t want to use
anything else.”
Calrec Audio’s strong position in the
mobile production market is unquestioned
– with Calrec consoles in more than 60
percent of HD trucks on the road in North
America today, according to Sports Video
Group’s 2009 Mobile Sports Production
Yearbook. Among the outside production
companies that have installed Calrec
consoles in mobile production units this
year are Crosscreek, Dome Productions
(Toronto), Game Creek, NEP Denali, NEP
Supershooters, Lyon Video, Mira Mobile,
Token Creek, F&F Productions, Turner and
Yes Productions.
Sales during the past year equally reflect
Calrec’s popularity in fixed studio facilities;
among them some of the top names in
the North American broadcast industry:
ESPN, Fox News, Global TV (Toronto),
HBO, Home Shopping Network, NBC
Universal, Rogers Communications
(Toronto), Turner Networks, the new MLB
Network, Speed Network, and many more.
With its Sigma, Omega, and Zeta range of
consoles and the popular Hydra network
system, Calrec in 2008 also made new
inroads into local and regional markets.
New customers include WYES, KMSP,
KGW, Mega TV, WFLD and UCTV, Calrec’s
first ever sale into Chile.
Going forward, Calrec will further its
reputation as the brand to beat with the
launch at the 2009 NAB Show in April
of its most powerful audio console yet,
Apollo, and of the next-generation
Hydra2 distributed audio router.

Calrec has strengthened its sales
push in Asia Pacific and in Europe
with the appointment of two key roles.
Chas Rowden has been recruited to
head up European Sales, while
Graham Murray has signed up to take
charge of sales in Asia Pacific.
“Both have extensive experience with
digital audio,” said Henry Goodman,
Calrec’s Business Development Manager.
“They both have proven records of
increasing sales for manufacturers directly
and by building and managing a network
of distributors and integrators. We are
delighted to have them on board as
Calrec continues to grow and develop.”
Based in Singapore, Murray has over
20 years experience with audio consoles,
including over 15 years with AMS-Neve
and three years as Technical Director with
Fairlight UK. Due to complete his MBA in
the summer, Murray also spent many
years in project management working
with systems integrators, and has a high
level of technical knowledge across
the industry.
Overseeing the development of European
business, Rowden also has over 20 years’
experience in the professional audio
industry. He has a strong sales
background which includes tenures at
Amek, AMS-Neve and Fairlight, as well
as Sales Director for Tyrell.
