Evaluataion

Seminar 1 = After 4 weeks of studies, students will present one IoT

device by understanding its architecture and working

Seminar 2 = After 8 weeks of studies, students will present a unique

new idea for making an IoT device.
Assignment(s) will be given every alternate week which can include

3
4
4

Writing about a topic

Writing codes for particular problem
Designing electronic circuits
Writing about softwares, sensors, hardware platforms etc.

Project will be chosen from a proposed list of projects given by course

instructor. Students can also propose a new idea for their project but
it has to be approved on an e-mail by the course instructor.

Term Paper
Students can choose to write a term paper
A Term paper is a students lengthy essay on a subject drawn from the
work done during a school or college term
What is Term Paper with respect to this course?
Research on the topic with respect to its definition and practical
aspect
Synthesize information from a variety of sources and discriminate
between them based on their scientific values.
Organize your work according to a logical structure.
Analyze the data/information and derive conclusions.
Adopt a unique point of view to judge the information/data.
DO NOT COPY. Check the website www.plaigrism.org in case of
doubt about how to take information from others work.

Term Paper

Term papers will be at-least 15 20 pages long with Times New Roman
font sized 11. No figure will be beyond quarter a page size.
Good term papers will mature into a full fledged journal articles which can
then by published in scientific journals

Introduction to project

The external evaluation for this course is based on project work.

Project work must only be based on Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi as
the hardware platforms.
The project work will have two deliverables.
1

A working instrument for showing IoT architecture implementation

implementation.
A project report and working manual for the IoT instrument.

The project will be evaluated by a jury of technologists and will be

evaluated based on a number of criteria like creativity, novelty,
technical workmanship, presentation, workability, durability,
experiments, data analysis, lab record etc.

Continous Recording of Project Work

Student will record all the data and information electronically at

https://www.labfolder.com/

This should be done for daily work right from the initiation of course,
till the end.

The students lab record will also be one of the criteria for external
evaluation.

IoT Instrument
General instructions for making IoT instrument:
A list of possible IoT project will be supplied by course instructor
after 3 weeks of course (once most of the ideas has been introduced.)
Students must identify and report their choice by 15th February 2015,
by e-mail to course instructor and start working for the same.
If student identifies his/her own topic which is not present in list of
proposed projects, he/she must write the title, abstract, deliverables
etc. in form of a proposal and take permission from the course
instructor.
Projects will be produced individually. Students can help each other,
but each student have to produce his/her individual project.

IoT Instrument

General instructions for making IoT instrument:

A working IoT instrument will produce data
Students are required to produce the data and interact with the same
These experiments must be properly documented on a daily basis
The data must be analyzed and concrete conclusions should be made
based on the experiments.
Students can consult the course instructor for the whole process of
fabricating, experimenting and data interpretation.

IoT project report

General instructions for making IoT report:
There will be two parts of the project report.
1

Project illustration part will describe the working of project along with
the data taken and its interpretation.
Project working manual will be made for new users and will describe
step-by-step process to to work with equipment along with
troubleshooting issues and their remedies.

Instances of plagiarism will be treated with failure grade for the

course
For consultation about plagiarism, students are required to consult the
website www.plagiarism.org and course instructor.
The report will be fed into www.turnitin.com to obtain plagiarism
report.

Good IoT projects

Those IoT projects which will score more than 70% marks in external
evaluation, will be encouraged to participate in national and
international student project exhibitions and competition.
Student will also be encouraged to write general articles for
newspapers, technical blogs and review of equipments.
Though this will not count towards evaluation for the course, but this
will bring good exposure of technical reporting.
