Sharing knowledge
and experience
with our customers
GE Oil & Gas provides a comprehensive portfolio of technical training courses for a wide
range of products. These courses can be conducted at the customer's site, in our Florence
Learning Center or in one of our Training Facilities located throughout the world working
closer to our customer.
Our Headquarters
The Florence Learning Center is located next to GE Oil & Gas headquarters in Florence, Italy and takes in
the promises of the GE Oil & Gas Technical Trianing. The department offers courses to the global oil and
gas community. Our 5,600 square meter facility has more than 20 training rooms, a conference center
with a seating capacity of 200, multimedia rooms, and classrooms equipped with Speedtronic Mark V,
Mark VI and MarkVIe control panels, and Bently Nevada equipment to offer a hands-on learning
experience. Our instructors are field-seasoned experts who combine an understanding of theory with
practical experience. The high quality training provided is a prerequisite for improving the skills of
operation and maintenance personnel to ensure safety and superior equipment availability. Training
courses delivered at the Florence Learning Center offer formal classroom lectures with the added
advantage of being able to visit the manufacturing plant, where trainees have the opportunity to
become familiar with GE Oil & Gas machining, assembly and testing operations while they are actually
being performed.
In addition, the Florence Learning Center features numerous cut-out scale models of machines to help
students visualize concepts throughout the learning process.
We offer courses both on a single company basis and for groups that include more than one company.
Training Worldwide
With the aim of better satisfying customer needs, GE Oil & Gas has created Training Centers
worldwide, everywhere with the same quality. One of the key objectives is to create and
develop local resources able to deliver technical information and assistance.
Our Centers deliver learning environments that provide information on technologies of
specific areas of interest.
ITALY
MASSA PLANT
In February 2010 a new training facility was
inaugurated at the GE Oil & Gas Massa Plant, just
over 50 miles (80 km) from Florence headquarter.
Massa is a state of the art very large facility
mainly focused on 4 areas: production of heavy
wall reactors, production and assembly of
compressor packages, string and full-load
testing of complete compression systems,
and the LM2500 aeroderivative Service Shop.
Training at this facility is specialized to provide
courses for aeroderivative equipment, and
includes the following:
Fully equipped classroom adjacent to the
Aeroderivative Service Shop giving students
immediate access to the shop and an intimate
view of the internal components of gas turbines
being serviced
LM2500 package dedicated to practical
training for mechanical operations. Students
perform Level 1 module mechanical procedures
including external and borescopic inspections
of the hot path component bleed valves, VSV
readings and settings, thermocouple checks,
scavenge lube oil, etc.
A control room with a Speedtronic Mark VI
control panel.
Connection to a test cell with an LM2500 SAC
gas turbine gives students first hand experience
in start-up
ALGERIA
Starting in October 2010, the GE Oil & Gas
Algesco Service Shop, located in Boufarik, in
northern Algeria, has its own training center
containing a fully equipped Bently Nevada
Rotor Kit, BN 3500 rack, System 1 and a
Speedtronic MarkVI control panel.
NIGERIA
In September 2004 the first GE Regional Training
Center was inaugurated in Port Harcourt Nigeria
to provide technical information, training and
assistance for customers in Nigeria and the
surrounding regions. It is the first GE facility of
its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Construction has recently been completed on a
new, four-story building located in the industrial
zone of Port Harcourt City, Rivers State.
The Center includes two fully equipped classrooms
for mechanical training sessions, a gas turbine
control panel simulator and other instructional
materials such as machined cut-outs showing
component parts and displays designed to
instruct trainees on the operational features of
GE equipment for oil and gas applications.
The Center offers both standard and customized
training packages for GE equipment for operation
and maintenance personnel, as well as leadership
and management courses.
BARI PLANT
Two specially equipped training rooms are
available at the Bari Plant, which is located
in Southern Italy.
The Bari site is a 230,000 m2 plant fully dedicated
to the design and fabrication of pumps and
industrial valves. This training facility offers
courses on any type of GE centrifugal pumps.
Students have ready access to the shop floor
where they can see exactly how our pumps are
manufactured, assembled and tested.
MEXICO
Our GE office in Ciudad del Carmen includes a
training room equipped with a Speedtronic Mark VI
Simplex Control panel. Students can simulate
operations and to gain hands-on experience with
the panel itself.
Training Portfolio
Mechanical Courses provide in depth knowledge of GE Oil & Gas machinery and auxiliaries, and
the skills needed to operate the machinery effectively for maximum production, efficiency and
environmental compliance.

Customized Training
GE Oil & Gas Technical Training provides world-class, site specific technical training
to owners and operators of our equipment. Courses and programs are offered for
the operation and maintenance of GE Equipment.
Customized training is intended to provide trainees with practical experience that
they will be able to apply on a daily basis. The courses are designed to meet the
customers specific needs and are developed using the actual documentation
prepared for the customers units. Instruction is available either at the customers
site or at the Florence Learning Center, and is scheduled at the convenience of the
customer. The course duration is tailored to the course material and the background
of the trainees. To ensure an optimum learning experience for the individual, the
class size is limited to 15 trainees for mechanical subjects and 10 trainees for
control courses.
Multi-customer training are also possible allowing to participants from different
companies to take part in the courses together.
H.O.T.
In response to requests from customers, GE Oil & Gas
has developed at its Massa Plant a Hands-on
Training facility for aeroderivative the technologies,
which offers the unique opportunity to gain in-depth
knowledge on this specialized GE equipment.
During this courses, trainees will have the
opportunity to:
Start up an LM2500 gas generator
Perform Level 1 maintenance activities on a
PGT25 SAC package
Explore the aeroderivative service shop and
packaging facility
Multimedia Interactive
Manual
Since the technical documentation that supports training is an
essential component in the process of learning to operate the
machines employed in the oil & gas industry, we now offer our
customers an innovative learning tool that we call MIM
(Multimedia Interactive Manual). MIM presents all of the
information necessary to properly use the core equipment
installed in systems -- from the theoretical, operational and
maintenance views. The imperatives followed in the
development of the Multimedia Interactive Manual are clarity
of content, simple organization and usability of the
information. These objectives have resulted in an MIM product
with superior information content, built in interactive functions,
ease and speed of accessing information, moderate computer
requirements, and simplified distribution and updating
capabilities.
