USBC Mission
The United States Bowling Congress (U.S.B.C.), as the national governing body,
ensures the integrity and protects the future of the sport, provides programs and services
and enhances the bowling experience.
League Minutes
Under U.S.B.C. rule 100m, the Spring/Summer Bowling League will operate as a
managed league for the duration of the season. A managed league is one in which an
individual, designated as the league manager, oversees the operation of the league.
1. FEES: Weekly bowling fees are $20 per person. Tonight we are collecting $40 ($9 for
lane fees, $11 for the prize fund and a one time administrative fee of $20).
2. START TIMES: League games begin at 1840. A ten-minute practice time will
precede games commencing at 1830.
3. VOTING: Items to vote on:
A. Would you like an 8, 10, 12 or 14 week season? 10 week
8 week Season ends June 8th
10 week Season ends June 22nd
12 week Season ends July 6th
14 week Season ends July 20th
B. Do you want the foul sensors on or off during league bowling nights? Off
C. If a team is not present at the beginning of league play, league rules state, A team
has until the completion of the first frame, or a select frame other than the first, to field a
legal lineup.
Note (1): A legal lineup is at least two players (substitutes count toward a legal
lineup).
By what frame of each game should a team field a legal lineup? Second (please keep
in mind that work, traffic, or other unexpected emergencies could impact anyone at
any time).
Note(2): The frames not bowled by a team or tardy player (s), by league rule, their
scores are one tenth of their absentee score.
D. What handicap system should we use? Last season we calculated handicaps based
on .60 % of 200. 60 %
E. Vote to allow Post bowling on a limited basis. No

Note (3): Team captains are responsible for setting up pre or post bowling
arrangements with the bowling alley. Also, be sure to inform the League Manager when
you will be pre/post bowling so he can inform the other Team.
F. Substitutes (subs) are to hold an established handicap by what week of the season.
(Recommend subs have an established handicap prior to the 3 rd week of the season.)
Thereafter only subs with established handicaps will be allowed to bowl in league
matches. Third
G. During positions rounds, will subs (with established handicaps) be allowed to
bowl? No
Note (4): Fifth players are not subs, therefore are eligible to bowl during position
rounds.
H. Do you want the Wednesday league to operate as a sanctioned bowling league?
Being sanctioned means we apply to the U.S.B.C. for a League Sanction ID. Our scores
are then reported to the U.S.B.C. and published in their yearbook. This qualifies bowlers
for U.S.B.C.-sponsored prizes. Cost is $18 per player. No

4. POSITION ROUNDS: Two position rounds are scheduled this season. The first at
the midpoint of the season, and the second to coincide with the final game of the season.
Position rounds match teams based upon their standing; i.e., position 1 plays 2; 3 plays 4;
etc. The purpose is to give teams a chance to improve their standing directly against their
closest competition.
5. PRACTICE BOWLING: On league bowling nights, team players are not to practice
bowl on their assigned lanes prior to the start of the 10 minute warm up period. Also
there should be no bowling on league lanes within one hour of league play.
6. MEMBERSHIP CARDS: U.S.B.C. membership can be purchased at the U.S.B.C
online site, www.bowl.com. When prompted for association, select Aviano. The cost
is $21.
7. TEAM ROSTERS: Please fill out the attached team name, team captain, team
membership and email information. Captains will be contacted to disseminate pertinent
information to their respective team members.
8. PROTESTS/DISPUTES: Protests or disputes will be adjudicated by the League
manager and team captains.
9. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: A running league financial statement (i.e., income,
balance, total expenditures) will be listed on the weekly payment sheet.
10. FINANCIAL BALANCES: Three weeks prior to the end of the season, team
financial balances are to be paid in full.
11. END OF SEASON PRIZES: Voting for prize distribution will be during the
seventh week of competition.
12. ABSENTEE SCORING: An absentee score is used when a member is absent and a
substitute is not obtained. The absentee score for each game shall be the members
average less 10 pins. U.S.B.C. Rule 105 applies

13. VACANT SCORING: Vacancy scoring is used when a team has an incomplete
roster. The vacant score for each game shall be calculated using a 120 average and 64
handicap. Note (5): 10 pins are NOT subtracted from the average). Vacancy scoring is
used for the first two games of a new league season. U.S.B.C. Rule 105 applies
14. LEAGUE ROSTER: Recommend no new teams be added to the league roster after
first week results are posted.
15. TEAM DROPOUT: If a team, for whatever reason, drops out or cannot complete
the remainder of the season, they will be listed as vacant. Teams bowling against the
vacant team, will vs. their team scratch average.
16. EVENTS/NATURAL DISASTERS: In the event of a natural disaster or other
unforeseen circumstances that prevent the completion of the bowling league, collected
funds will be returned on a prorated basis.
