Introducing

Pi Sigma Epsilon

Eta Gamma Chapter

Mission Statement: To develop the sales and marketing skills of its members through experential
learning and professional opportunities.

What is PSE?
In October of 2014, four ambitious University
of Maryland students had a vision to establish a
brand new professional business fraternity. Just four
months later, the Eta Gamma Chapter of Pi Sigma
Epsilon was founded. Since then, the fraternity has
been very active on campus by participating in
community service events, building professional
networks, and conducting business events. PSE has
teamed up with a variety of companies to do brand
ambassador programs as well. These companies
include Geico, Citrix, and LibertyMutual. The
fraternity now has over 50 active members.
The aim of the fraternity is to develop its members professionally and socially. PSE focuses on sales,
marketing and management but is open to all majors. It aims to form life-long relationships among its members
and connect them with the Robert H. Smith School of Business to create relationships with future employers. If
youre a student looking for innovation, building valuable relationships, and having fun rush Pi Sigma Epsilon!

PSE is a major key for success!

Welcoming a New Partnership
In Fall of 2015, PSE formed
a partnership with an app called
Friendsy to help them promote and
launch their app on the University of
Maryland campus. Their efforts have
been wildly successful and Friendsy
is considered the new Tinder for
college students only.
Friendsy aims to connect college
students, whether its to be friends,
date or hook up. You must have a
.edu email address to sign up, making
it unique compared to other apps.

Friendsy has launched on about 40

campuses, including the University
of Maryland. Since its launch on
campus, and because of the efforts of
PSE, its user base has doubled since
its initial launch in the Fall of 2015.
The members of PSE learned
valuable marketing strategies when
promoting the app. Members used
social media to spread the word and
successfully helped Friendsy gain the
attention it was looking for.

History of Pi Sigma Epsilon

...marketing
would become
a vital organ in
the body of the
economy...

More than 60 years ago, the founder

of Pi Sigma Epsilon, Lloyd L. Antle,
predicted that in the near future
marketing would become a vital organ
in the body of the economy. A professor
of Marketing at Georgia State College
and an Ohio University alumnus, Antle
wanted students to get involved in
something greater than themselves.
With the support of three of his
colleagues, Pi Sigma Epsilon was
founded on May 14th, 1952. For the first
23 years, only men were allowed to join

the fraternity. In 1974, PSE became co-ed

after an amendment to the Constitution.
Women now play key roles in all levels
of the fraternity and make up a slight
majority of the membership.
As a legacy of the fraternitys history,
all members are referred to as brothers
regardless of sex. Since then, PSE has
grown to be the only co-ed professional
business fraternity focused on sales and
marketing open to all majors.

Brand Ambassador Program 2016

PSE will be partnering with Pocket Points again this semester. Pocket
Points is a new app that gives students rewards for not using their phone
while in class. Rewards can be redeemed online or at local stores by
campus. Members of PSE have been marketing the app around campus
by setting up table events to build awareness. They have created a lot
of publicity for this app and its becoming more popular among college
students. Vice President of Marketing, Brian Sweeney, has been working
closely with Pocket Points.
Ive been doing a lot of online campaigning for them, focusing heavily
on social media by tweeting about Pocket Points and inviting friends on
Facebook to download it, Sweeney said.
PSE will continue to work with Pocket Points in the Fall of 2016 to help
new members learn more about marketing and sales.

A Talk With Kiana Kelly

Most teenagers that attend college

has this position helped her
learn organizational skills and
develop a strong network,
but it also taught her how
organizations work behind the
scenes.
