This document is meant to provide the personal opinion of the author, not of any

organization or group. The listed data points will be pulled from official US government
sources and categorized according to relevance. The data points will be followed by
conclusions derived from them.
The goal of the data is to determine a common concept, that having firearms means
more violence and crime. Data will include volumes of homicides, suicides, and assaults
perpetrated in the US, the quantity of firearms, and the prevalence of firearms.

Trends noted:
-The number of people killed has decreased continually since 1998
-The use of firearms in homicides has decreased since 1992
-Overall, violent crime has dropped since 1992
-Crime in urban areas, where most crimes occur, has significantly decreased
-The production of all firearms types(the major two being listed) has increased
-The number of firearms produced being exported has only marginally increased
-The number of people(including children) being killed accidentally by firearms is
decreasing
-More heavily regulated and dangerous items were transferred with slightly declining
crime and murder rate
-Crime rate dropped with rate of handgun use in crimes

Non-Government Data(Cited)/Other Trends:

-US ammunition and firearm sales skyrocketed both Obama elections
-Police Response differ greatly, from less than 20 minutes in urban areas to more
than an hour for rural areas
-Most owners of firearms reference self-defence as the main reason to posses
-American law protects property and personal rights, allows for defence of them
-Cannot link "assault weapons" to crime, 1994-2004 ban was not cause of crime drop
-Ban had no effect on increases in school shootings
-Fast response linked to faster put down of shooters
-Restricting market closes competition, selection for Law enforcement and military
-Private market drives American weapon makers, foreign companies build here
-Banned weapons generally not type used in crimes anyways
-Common weapons for criminals are cheap or common handguns, revolvers
-California found most common calibers were pistol or pistol compatible, followed
by hunting rounds

-Only partially updated to 2013, most statistics released two years after
-All government information is cited, most non-government
