National Centre for Photovoltaic

Industry
Affiliate
Programme

Introduction
The Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission
is one of the most important technologicalcum-societal initiatives announced by the
government in recent years. It has the potential
of simultaneously increasing the awareness and
use of clean energy, of transforming life in rural
areas, and also kick-starting a major new industry
segment. As part of this mission, the National
Centre for Photovoltaic Research and Education
(NCPRE) was set up by the Ministry of New and
Renewable Energy at IIT Bombay in 2010.
The NCPRE is a major national resource in the
Photovoltaic (PV) area, both for research and
education. One of the goals for NCPRE is to have
a strong interaction with the solar PV and allied
industries in India through an outreach initiative.
Towards this goal, NCPRE is launching the
Industry Affiliate Programme.

Activities at NCPRE
NCPRE has research activities in the areas of
silicon solar cells
new materials and devices for solar cells
energy storage
power electronics
characterization
modelling and simulation
solar systems and products
technology assessment
