Essential Experience: 4 years of experience after Ph.D. in R&D or University Library

HOW TO APPLY

1. The application should be submitted in the proforma given in the Advertisement, preferably
typewritten on thick A4 Paper only [size 34CMs x 22CMs].

2. The Application and the outer cover should be superscribed as APPLICATION FOR THE POST

3. A recent passport size photograph should be pasted on the space provided on the right hand
top corner of the application and another to be pasted on the admit card.
4. The application for the posts of Scientific Officer / Engineers Grade “E” / “D” & Technical
Officer / Engineers Grade “D” / "C" should be accompanied by a Non refundable crossed
Indian Postal Order or Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Pay & Accounts Officer, IGCAR,
Kalpakkam for a sum of Rs.50/- payable in SBI Bank/Canara Bank, Kalpakkam. Women
candidates are exempted from payment of fees. SC/ST candidates, Disabled Defence
personnel and dependents of Defence Personnel killed in action and Ex-servicemen are
exempted from paying the above fee. For the posts of Scientific Assistant "B", Category – I
Trainees, Technician "B" and Category – II Trainees Postal Order / Demand Draft is not required.
5. Application should accompany the attested copies of certificates

[d] Certificates issued by the Competent Authorities regarding their claim that they belong to

GENERAL CONDITIONS

1. Persons who are applying for more than one post should submit separate applications for each
category.
2. Persons working under Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertakings should submit
their applications through proper channel. They may, however, send one advance copy of the
application along with enclosures as detailed above which should reach before the
prescribed last date.
3. Applications which are not in conformity with the requirements indicated in the
advertisement, e.g. applications which are not in the prescribed form, not accompanied by the
attested copies of certificates, passport size photograph of the prescribed size and admit
card will be rejected.

4. The Candidate should produce the original transfer certificate at the time of Interview & also
while joining for training/appointment.

5. Candidates possessing qualification higher than prescribed which makes them eligible for
appointment to higher grade will not be considered on the grounds of over qualification. Those
candidates in the final year / final semester M.E./M.Tech. may also apply for the post of
Technical Officer “C”. Those Candidates who have passed M.Sc. / Degree in Engineering or
appearing for M.Sc. / Degree in Engineering will not be considered for the post of Scientific
Assistant "B" & Category – I Trainees and those candidates who have passed B.Sc./Diploma
in Engineering will not be considered for the post of Technician "B" & Category – II Trainees.
Hence, such candidates need not apply.

6. No correspondence will be entertained with candidates not selected for Written Test /
Interview / Appointment.

7. CANVASSING IN ANY FORM WILL BE A DISQUALIFICATION.

FOR CATEGORY- I & CATEGORY- II TRAINEES

8. Duration of Training Period:


v One year for Category – I Trainees.
v Two years for Category – II Trainees.

9. Performance during training period:


The trainee’s performance will be assessed during the course of the training period and in
case the performance is found to be unsatisfactory, the traineeship is liable to be terminated.
Only those trainees meeting the required minimum performance during training period & during
interview will be considered for absorption for regular appointment to posts at the end of the
training period.

10. Accommodation during training:


All trainees will be provided with bachelor accommodation in the Hostels of this
Department or Equivalent single accommodation/dormitory during the period of training, on
payment basis. In case hostel accommodation is not provided, the candidates should make their
own arrangement for stay.

11. Shift duty:


During the period of training the trainees will be required to come in Round the clock shift
for hands on training. After the appointment they will be required to work in round the clock shift
duties. The duty will involve working in radioactive areas wearing protective clothing and gears.

12. Bond:
The selected candidates under Category – I & Category – II will have to execute a bond in
the prescribed form to complete the course of training and to serve IGCAR or any of the
constituent units of DAE for a period of four years after training, if offered appointment. A
trainee who fails to complete the training or serve the Government for four years if offered
appointment will be liable to pay to the Government a sum equivalent to entire aggregate
amount of stipend received by him during the period of training along with interest thereon.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Higher percentage of marks in the qualifying exam than what is prescribed in the advertisement for a
particular post could be adopted while screening if number of applications received is large vis-à-vis the
number of posts advertised.

Selection is through personal interview. Depending on the number of applications screened in, written
examination also could be conducted in which case only those who qualify in written examination will be
called for personal interview.

For the post of Technicians, Trade Test will be conducted for selection.

A photo admit card will be sent by post of each eligible applicant indicating his / her roll number, time,
date and Centre for Written Test.

The interview call letter will be sent to only those candidates who qualify for appearing in interview
based on Written Test performance. The interviews will be conducted at IGCAR, Kalpakkam.

TRAVELLING ALLOWANCE [TA]

For General Candidates:


TA will be paid to the candidates appearing for Interview only & not for written test. However if
there is no written test, TA will be paid for personal interview. Those who are not working under any
Central / State Government / Public Sector Undertaking / Corporation / Local Government / Panchayats,
etc., are only eligible for reimbursement of second class rail fare or Bus fare to the place of Interview and
back by the shortest route from Railway Station/Bus Stand from the place of residence as admissible
under the rules.

For SC/ST Candidates:


The candidates belonging to SC/ST called for Written Test for the post of Scientific Officer “E”,
Scientific Officer “D”, Technical Officer “C”, Scientific Assistant “B” , Category – I Trainees , Technician
“B” and Category II Trainees from outstation and those who are not employed in Central / State
Government / Public Sector Undertaking / Corporation / Local Government / Panchayats, etc., are
eligible for reimbursement of second class rail fare or Bus fare to the place of written test and back by
the shortest route from Railway Station/Bus Stand from the place of residence as admissible under the
rules. However, if there is no written test and only interview is conducted, TA will be paid to SC/ST
candidates appearing for Interview. If Interview is held at Kalpakkam, TA will be paid for the travel from
Chennai to Kalpakkam.
However, the reimbursement in all the above cases will be restricted to the fare in respect of
balance distance exceeding 30 kms, both ways subject to production of ticket / tickets. If Concessional
Rail / Bus tickets are available, the Reimbursement will be limited to the Concessional return fare only.
