1 General Information
The digital satellite receiver allows you to view, record and play digital satellite programs
or play MP3 and photo, This user's manual covers the installation of the receiver and the
necessary steps to operate various features. It also explains special features available
only in this receiver in details, which will help you to take full advantage of these features.

1.2 For Your Safety


Keep receiver placed in clean space with sufficient ventilation
Do not cover the STB with or place it on a unit that emits heat
Clean the case by a soft cloth with a little washing liquid.
Do not connect or modify cables when the receiver is plugged on

Do not let the unit exposed to extreme heat, cold or humid conditions

2. Installation of receiver
Please find relevant reference of installation described as below. When
connecting new equipment to the receiver, be sure checking first related
instructions for the proper way of installation.

2.1 Connecting to Antenna and TV

3. Menu Description
After installing the receiver and power on, press theMENU key on your remote control to
display the Main Menu on the screen. If you select one of the highlighted icons, a sub-menu
will be shown on the TV screen. To leave the menu, pressEXIT/MENUkey. The Main
Menu contains 5 menu items as below :

During the installation, theOK
Key confirms a selection and key shows
the List Box. You can also
use the numeric keys on the RCU to enter a
numeric value for watching TV.
To escape the menu system at anytime, press
EXITkey on the RCU.
Use thekeys to move up or down from
one line to another line. Use the
keys to move the cursor up or down in
the sub-menu.

3.1 Installation
This menu includes

Select the highlighted titles and


press theOKkey to enter the sub-menu. Each
item is described below in detail.

A. Antenna Setup
In this sub-menu, you can pressOK key on Antenna position to view satellite list and
select satellite, LNB Type, Low Freq, High Freq Pre-defined Channel, 22K switch, 12V
switch, DiSEqC switch ,Motor setupand LNB Power can be set up for each satellite. You
can operate as following to change some option:

Antenna: to show current satellite name.

and then useto choose and press

Type: to set up current LNB type. You can


select
NORMAL C, NORMAL Ku, UNIVERSAL,
ONE CABLE,
HIGH Ku and LOW Ku,
Low Freq/High Freq to show current
LNB frequency.
You can also input the LNB frequency on
the highlighted item referring to your LNB.
Use numeric buttons to input and press
OKkey to save.
22K: Depending on the users antenna switch box or LNB, you can supply either 22 KHz by
setting ON or not by setting OFF.
12V: Depending on the users antenna switch box, you can choose either 0V/12V.
DiSEqC: You can select and use appropriate port for your DiSEqC switch box. The ports
include PORT A, PORT B, PORT C, PORT D and OFF.

Motor Setup
In this item, press/key to select DiSEqC 1.2, USALS or OFF according to what
you want:

1,when select DiSEqC 1.2 to set:


PressOKkey to enter sub-menu for
setting.
This menu allows you to setup motor. There
are two modes for this menu, Installer Mode
andUser Mode.
Under Installer Mode, you can control to
move the motor on Move item, to set or
disable East/West limit by current position on
Set Limit item, to move the zero position on
Goto Ref item.
Under User Mode, you can control Driving
Mode, Driving Size, Move, Store Position,
Goto Position and Re-Calculate Position.

2.when select USALS to set:


PressOKkey to enter sub-menu for
setting.
In this sub-menu, press NUMERIC buttons to
enter the Longitudeand Latitude,
pressOK key on Goto Reference to move
the zero position, pressOK key on Move to
move motor,
pressOKkey on Store to store current
position.

LNB Power: Select the LNB power OFF or supply voltage with 13/18 or 13 or 18.
Below four color keys in this menu are for more
installation operation:
Red: Used to auto scan current satellite, then
select Search types Free or All and Network
Search option NIT ON or NIT OFF, pressOKto
start scan.

Green: Used to enter satellite edit menu. In this


menu, you can press Red key to change satellite
name on satellite item, and edit pre-define
channel name on predefined channel item.
Frequency, Symbol Rate, Polarity, VID PID,
AUD PID and PCR PID for pre-define channel
can be edited in this menu also.

Yellow: Used to blind scan programs by


software,
/ Exitto return to antenna setup
pressMenu
menu.

Blue: Used to enter multi satellite scan menu.


You can select multi satellites then press Red
key to start multi satellites scan.

B. Manual Search
This menu allows you to search
transponder
manually. The Frequency,
Symbol Rate, FEC
and Polarity for the transponder
on current
selected satellite will be shown in
this menu.

There are four color keys in this


menu.
Red key: to add one transponder
for current
satellite, after pressing it, you can
input
Frequency, Symbol, FEC and
Polarity value to
edit this new added transponder.

Green Key: to scan current TP with


specified
Video PID, Audio PID and PCR PID
value.

Yellow Key: to delete current TP


parameter.
Note: The programs on this TP will be
deleted
also.

Blue Key: to scan current TP under ALL/FREE


and Network search option.

C. Factory Default
Use this option only if you have to start
the complete installation procedure
from scratch.
If you continue from here, all your
previous settings and all channels will
be cleared.
The default data will be loaded. You will
be asked to input password to enter
this menu, the default PIN code is: 0000.
This code can be changed in the
Parental Control menu.

D. Smartcard Info
Smartcard information will be displayed in this menu.

3.2 Preferences
If you want to customize the system to suit you
better, you can specify some settings from the
submenus in the Preference menu. This menu
includes Language Setting, OSD Setting, Time
Setting, Scheduler Setting and Parental
Control.

A. Language Setting
Select the highlighted item then press
OKto choose from the list of
languages, or press/
buttons to select directly.
Here you may select in which
language the menus will be shown.
Press/to select the language
you prefer for menu, the selected
language will be applied on whole
menu. Press/to select the
language you prefer for 1st
audio, 2nd Audio, Teletext, Subtitle,
EPG 1st and EPG 2nd.

B. OSD Setting
Select the OSD Setting type. It includes
4 items:
Transparency, OSD Timeout. , Radio
background, Page Up/Down Tab.
Transparency:
From 1 to 15 will give the variable
transparency
on OSD screen. The selected
transparency will
be applied on the OSD screen.
Banner Time:
When you switch channels, an information banner will be shown for a few seconds.
You can select for how long the banner will be shown. The time ranges from 0 second (OFF)
to 10 seconds.
Radio background: Used to take radio background picture ON/OFF.

Page Up/Down Tab: Used to set channel skip number step when pressing Page
Up/Down button, the step ranges 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64.

C. Time Setting
GMT usage: Turn ON to get current date
and
time information from the stream by
receiver; Turn
OFF to use the local date and time set by
user.
Time Zone: When GMT ON, press/
key or
OK key to change the local time zone.
Date: When GMT OFF, pressOKkey
and use
/or/to set date. Press Page
Up/Down
to change month; When GMT ON, only for
display.
Current time: When GMT OFF, press NUMERIC
key to enter current time; When GMT ON, only for display.

D. Schedule Setting
Schedule: Press/to select schedule number
range from 1 to 4.
Event: Press OKkey to list, or press
/to
choose the timer task event, the tasks
include
None, Standby, Power on, Tune channel.
Event Repetition: PressOKkey to list,
or press
/to choose: Once, Daily, Every
Sunday,
Every Monday, Every Tuesday, Every
Wednesday, Every Thursday, Every
Friday, Every Saturday.
Switch-on Time: Press NUMERIC
buttons to set the event execution time.
TV/Radio: Used to select TV or Radio for Tune Channel setting.
Channel No.: Used to set channel number for Tune Channel setting.

E. Parental Control
You can press/to set a lock or
unlock for all
menus or some channels or receiver
booting.
1. The default PIN code is: 0000.
2. To change your PIN code:
Enter your Old PIN code in the
highlighted.
Enter a New PIN code in the highlighted.
Verify the New PIN code.
3. When the entered PIN code is verified
correctly,
then all settings are completed.

3.3Channel
The Channel Menu has 2 items: Channel
Manager and Favorites Manager. If you select
one of the highlighted titles and press the OK
button, the corresponding Sub-menu will be
shown on TV screen. The description below
outlines the function of each command of the
Channel Menu.

A. Channel Manager
If you select and pressOKKey,
then you can see all TV list.
/ P-Key to select
Use /orP+
channel. There are four color keys for
Move,
Lock, Skip and Delete. All settings will
be saved
after you pressEXITKey and quit.

Rename: Press OKkey to


rename current
channel name. You need select the
Save button
in the soft keyboard to save the
channel name
you edited.

Move: Press Red key to select the


channel and
use/orP+/P-keys to
move to the position
where you require.

Lock: Press Green key to lock


current channels.
A lock symbol will be displayed at
the left side of
the locked service. The PIN code
needs to be
entered to view the locked services if
Channel is
set as Lock in Parental Control
menu.

Skip: Press Yellow key to set


current channel
into skip mode. A symbol will be
displayed at the
right side of the skipped channels.
All skipped
channels will not be tuned when you
use /
key to change channel.
Delete: Press Blue key to delete the current

channel. A symbol will be displayed at the left


side of the deleted channels.

B. Favorites Manager
In this sub-menu, you can select
programs from
left-side channel list, and add
them into right-side
favorite groups. There are 16
FAV groups totally
including Movie, News, Show,
Sports,
Children, Music, Art, Educate,
Leisure,
Shopping, Adult, etc, User A,
User B, User C,
User D.
Press Red key to toggle channel
list and favorite
list.
If channel list is highlighted, press /key to
change channels, press /key to switch
between installed satellites, press Green key to
add current channel into right-side favorite group,
press SATkey to show satellite list for selecting.
If Favorite list is highlighted, press /key to
select FAV channels, press /key to switch
between favorite groups, press Green key to remove selected FAV channel from current
favorite group, press Yellow key to rename current favorite group.
All settings will be saved after you press EXITKey and quit.

3.4 Setting
The Setting Menu has 4items:

A. TV Setting

There are 7 items for your setting


in this sub-menu, press/
key on RCU to highlight item

UHF Channel: Fix the number of RF channel
UHF Channel Freq: RF channel frequency

B.System Information
You can find receiver information like software version, hardware version, Loader version
and other information under this menu.

C. System Upgrade
When you select Upgrade another
STB, you can upgrade through
receiver to receiver.

D. System Diagnosis
In this menu, press RED key on RCU to start system diagnosis, ok will be prompted.

3.5.USB Function
Special function key for USB
1. GREEN key as REC key in the view
mode
The GREEN key is used to enter
recording program mode.
2. /key
The two keys are used to fast rewind or
forward during mp3 or TS playing.
3. /key
The /key is used to play or pause
the mp3 or TS playing process.
4. key
The key is used to exit the mp3 or TS playing process.
5. |/ | key
The two keys are used to play the previous or next item in mp3 or the TS file playing.
6.
Time Locate key
This key can set starting time for play. Time Locate button can be activated by pressing any
number key.
USB browser can be entered only
after flash memory stick or hard
disk being inserted.
USB function support MP3,
JPG/JPEG, TS(recorded by this STB)
and BIN format files.
From main menu can enter the USB
browser, and which consists of 5
display mode. In USB browser, user
can press/ to browse files stored
in memory stick or hard disk,
and choose file type to be shown
by using / button. Press OK
key, the relevant function will be executed.
Press the Exit key to exit this
menu and return to the view mode.

RED Key: User can press RED key to open type-supported files including MP3, JPEG and
TS files.

GREEN Key:
User can press GREEN Key to Sort
and display the files under
current path, the sort
option including Default, Name,
Size and Time.

YELLOW Key: User can


press YELLOW Key to Delete, Rename,
Lock selected file, Set current path
as PVR record Path or create a
New Folder at current path.

BLUE Key: Under JPEG or MP3 display mode, user can press BLUE Key to Loop play
JPEG or MP3 files under Regular mode or Random mode.

MP3
/|| key is used to start or pause the mp3
playing and key for stop. Press to fast
rewind and press to fast forward the mp3
playing process. When the mp3 is playing, press
|| ey to play previous or next song under
same path.
User can press Red Key to increase and Green
key to decrease the volume. Volume can be
muted when pressingMUTE Key.

JPEG
While playing JPEG picture, user can press
/ to rotate the picture, press / or
|/| key to skip to previous or next picture,
and press Zoom Key to zoom in picture (X2, X4,
X6, X8, X12, X16) can be chosen by pressing
OK Key, the zone for zooming can be chosen
using / and /

PVR
Press GREEN key on RCU when watching TV,
there is a channel list which will list all channels
available
for
recording
under
current
Transponder, user can select one channel from
the list and press OK to start recording into
hard disk. A Recording toolbar can be accessed
through remoter while recording. There are four
buttons on the toolbar, for fast-rewind, /||
for play or pause, for stop, and for
fast-forward.

User can play back the recorded TS file,


there are seven buttons can be accessed
through remoter on the toolbar, | for skip
to previous stream, for fast-rewind,
/|| for play or pause, for stop,
for fast-forward, | for skip to next
stream, and Time Locate button can be
activated by pressing any number key.

Time Shift
If hard disk being connected, Time Shift mode will be activated by pressing Pause key when
watching TV, the mode will exit after pressing , then the channel will continue playing from
the point being paused. User can press for fast-rewind, for fast-forward and
button to exit time shift mode. Before exiting, user will be asked to decide whether the record
stream would be saved.

S/W Upgrade
Press OKon the BIN file you want to use for upgrade, STB will can be upgraded after
checking by itself whether the BIN file is same model and higher version number.
Under USB function sub-menu select 2M BIN file, there are 3 options as below:
1. upgrade software
2. upgrade all except loader data
3. upgrade default data
A, when select 128k default data BIN
under USB sub-MENU, you can directly
upgrade default data.
B, when select 256k user data BIN
under USB sub-MENU, you can directly
upgrade user data.
C, in the BIN browse of USB
sub-MENU, there is Upload option for you
upload Default Data or User Data.

4.General Viewing Function


The following describes the basic functions of your STB while watching satellite TV or
listening to satellite radio.
While watching, the current channel information will be shown
on the bottom of the screen if you press the button on the RCU. INFO (i)

4.1Channel List
In channel display condition,
press OKkey to view the
channel list. List of
existing channels will be shown.
RED KEY function Key to check
all channels in different sort type
from letter A~Z.
GREEN KEY to choose channels
with different TP
YELLOW Key to show all
satellite channels or one of
satellites channels.

4.2 Select Channel


If you want to select channel, use key on the front panel or CH+ CH- key
on the RCU or numeric keys.
In addition to the above normal function, STB provides more convenient channel change
function.

While watching, pressOK key on the RCU. A channel list will be displayed on the left
side of the screen. If you press EXITorMENUkey, the channel list will disappear.
To select a channel, go up or down this channel list and place the cursor on a desired
channel. Then, pressOK key to watch the selected channel.

4.3 Recall
Press Recall on the RCU to move to the previous channel you watched.

4.4 TV/Radio Mode


While Viewing TV channel, press The TV/Radio key on the RCU to toggle
between TV and Radio modes.

4.5 TV/SAT Mode


The key TV/AV on the RCU lets you change the mode from satellite to TV or VCR.
Press once to move to the TV mode.
Press twice to move to VCR mode.
Press three times to move back to satellite mode.

4.6 Channel Information


Every time you change channels, you will receive program
information for a few seconds.
While watching the channel you can see the current channel
information at anytime by pressing the(i) INFO key on the RCU.
Note: Channel information will be displayed for 6 seconds by default
and will disappear. You can adjust the display time interval from 2 to12 seconds.

4.7 Favourite List


To create a favorite group list press FAV key on the RCU.
You can access the next favorite group when you press FAV key again.

4.8 Volume & Audio Control


1 Volume Control
To increase or decrease volume, useVOL+/-Key on the RCU or

on the front panel.


Note: STB has 18 volume levels and this can be controlled from the volume level of your
TV.
2 Mute

Press the AUDIO R/L key repeatedly to select one of three possible Audio settings (Left,

If you searched channels from more than one satellite and want to
have a channel list for each satellite, press SAT key on the RCU, a
satellite list will be displayed.
Select one satellite you want, press OK key on the RCU then you will
have a channel list of your choice.

4.10 ZOOM function


Zoom function enable you to enlarge
the picture. Press o first, you will see
one frame on the screen. PressOK
the chosen picture with in the frame will be
enlarged.

4.11 PIP (Picture in picture function)


This receiver offers you 9
pictures in picture functions.
User can
easily view what other channels
doing in same time.

4.12 EPG (Electronic


Program Guide)
STB provides EPG function for you to get access to the TV Guide (or Radio Guide if you
are listening to radio channels) that will show the titles and other information of the
current and next programs on different channels. The information is only available from
the network to which the channel you are watching.

6. Trouble Shooting
Problem Possible

Causes

No display light up on
front panel

Power cord is not well


plugged

No sound or picture, but the


front panel red light is ON.

Check to make sure power


cord is plugged properly
into
power socket.
The unit is in standby mode. Press the standby button.
The satellite dish is not
pointing at the satellite.
No signal or weak signal

The satellite dish is not


pointing at the satellite.
Signal is too strong.
Satellite dish is too small
LNB noise factor too high
No picture(Video)

There is interference on
your digital satellite
channel.

What To Do

The LNB is faulty


TV is not in AV/EXT mode

The system is connected


using RF cable and the
output channel of the
receiver interferes with an
existing terrestrial channel
or Video signal.
Out of battery
RCU is aimed at wrong
direction

Adjust the dish. Check the


Signal Level in the
Antenna Setup menu.
Check the cable
connections, LNB and other
equipment connected
