Latest News regarding Chinas takings over Philippine

Islands
Details
The Chinese are claiming almost the entire South China Sea, including the
West Philippine Sea. Manila is contesting Beijings claim before an
international arbitral court based in The Hague. Now the Chinese have taken
over another traditional Filipino fishing ground near Palawan where they have
stationed up to five ships to keep local fishermen at bay, sources said.
Filipinos call it Quirino or Jackson Atoll, which Filipino fishermen also call
Jackson Five, because of the existence of five lagoons in the area. It has been
a rich source of catch for a long time for fishermen of Palawan, Southern
Luzon, Western Visayas and even Manila. As of now, Gray and white Chinese
vessels have been staying there not letting our Filipino fisher men to catch
some fishes.
Kalayaan Mayor Eugenio Bito-onon Jr. said the Chinese ships have been
staying in Quirino Atoll for more than a month now. They have many ships
there, he said, without elaborating. And Philippine air patrol has confirmed
the presence of at least four Chinese coast guard ships in the Jackson
lagoons. Jackson Atoll lies several kilometers (miles) from the Philippineclaimed Mischief Reef, which China occupied in 1995 and has developed into
an island. A Philippine security official said an air force surveillance plane did
not see Chinese vessels on a flight Wednesday. Still, the mere sighting of the
Chinese vessels has set off concerns. Im alarmed because we frequently
pass by that atoll on our way to Pag-asa, Bito-onon told The Associated
Press by telephone, using the Filipino name for Thitu Island in the Spratlys
where a small Filipino fishing community and troops stay.

In 2012, the Chinese took control of Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal after a

brief standoff with a Philippine Navy vessel whose crew had tried to arrest
Chinese poachers. Outnumbered and outgunned by the Chinese, the Filipinos
were forced to release the poachers along with their illegal cargo of live baby
sharks, giant clams and endangered corals. The Chinese have never left the
shoal since then.

Actions & Solutions

Filipino People will Resist Chinas Incursions! Filipino people are fighting
for what is ours. Activists chant slogans as they display placards during rally
regarding disputed islands in South China Sea.
Different agencies of our government said that they are still verifying the report.
DFA Spokesperson, Asec. Charles Jose said, Were in the process of verifying this
report with concerned agencies. AFP Spokesperson, Col. Restituto Padilla said, We
are deferring comment while our verification process is ongoing. DFA/ DND is also
lead in commenting on related matters.
The United States and ASEAN stopped the militarization, construction and
reclamation in the West Philippine Sea. But simultaneously with the release of
Sunnylands declaration at the end of the US-ASEAN Summit, China confirmed that
they sent surface to air missiles to the oceans. Political Science Professor of DLSU,
Richard Heydarian said, China surely will scramble for ways to avoid a regional drift
towards a diplomatic consensus that is closer to US position on WPS. So it seems
the US managed to get Cambodia and Laos on board to sign off a relatively robust
joint statement re the WPS disputes. President Benigno Aquino III asserted that the
Philippines has no intention to have weapons of mass destruction unlike the Chinas.
And He is looking forward that China will follow what decision of the arbitral tribunal
would be for the good sake of Chinas name.
Civil Aviation Authority if the Philippines plans to build a new surveillance system
in Pag-asa Island. This is to ensure the safety of the plane passing through the West
Philippine Sea. But when I survey the group area, they received a warning from the
Chinese navy. Sec. Albert Del Rosario of DFA said that there would be a possibility
where ADIZ could be imposed. An Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ)

is airspace over land or water in which the identification, location, and

control of civil aircraft is performed in the interest of national security. They
may extend beyond a country's territory to give the country more time to

respond to possibly hostile aircraft. The concept of an ADIZ is not defined in

any international treaty and is not regulated by any international body.

Reaction
Its sad how China is so greedy for power. Can they not see the size of their
country from ours? My point here is quite simple. The Philippines lives in a
simple way. We can say that our country is not yet that improving. But we
are doing our best to be one of the well known countries. Our simple ways to
live in this world will be taken by a greedy country. Everything that is left for
us can disappear in just a second. So let us do something for our country.
Fight for it. For China, there is still time to change your ways. If you are
thinking for your country then also think that we are thinking for ours too.
