In 1993 Dana graduated with honors, earning Bachelors of Arts from SDSU with a Major in Political Science and dual
Minors in Speech and Business. In 1996 Dana earned his Juris Doctorate* from the University of Oklahoma Law School
and has been licensed with the Oklahoma Bar since 1996.
Prior to joining the Principal Financial Group, Dana worked for Wichita-based Koch Materials Company as a Technical
Marketing Representative from 1996 through 1999. From 2000 through 2005, Dana served as Area Manager for Kochs
North Central Region and then served as Senior Account Manager for the Flint Hills Resources North Central Region until
2008. In late 2008 Dana worked for Tulsa-based Sem Materials Company as the North Central Area Manager
before starting a new career in the financial services industry with the Principal Financial Group.
Dana holds the Series 6, Series 63 and Life/Health and Long Term Care certifications in SD, ND, IA, MN and WI. As a
small business owner and with past leadership roles for two of the largest privately owned corporations in the U.S.,
Dana has focused his financial planning business primarily in the areas of personal financial planning, business planning
and estate planning markets. Since starting his practice with the Principal Financial Group Dana has earned the
following honors/awards: Century Club, Pacesetter Award, accepted into the Emerging Leaders Program, has received
specialized training in the area of Business Owners and Employees Solutions, and is currently pursuing his LUTCF
designation.
Dana's wife Stacy works as an RN working in the Avera McKennan Hospital ICU and electronic ICU. They enjoy attending
Tiana and Ethans many school and extra-curricular events such as basketball, volleyball, choir, band, football and
wrestling. When the family is not attending the kids school or sporting events, they enjoy outdoor activities including
fishing and hunting back at the familys cattle ranch in Hoven, SD. Dana is passionate about being able to preserve
the family's dual century farms and continue the family cattle business into the 5th generation.
