Introduction

There have been many opinions given that have in one way of another contributed to the
understanding of emotions concerning children. Despite this, there is no particular research of
study showing the combination of behavior as well as regulation strategies in one particular
model contributing to the control of extreme emotions that children have (Rogers et.al, 2015).
Studies have shown that in most cases, the biggest contributor to these mixed forms of emotions
is linked with the mother. The regulations and liability of emotions are the key important
components in determining how these emotions work. Teachers recognize certain unique
behaviors in children mainly because they are observed by them closely depending on the
various deeds they commit in schools. This mainly supports the assumptions that the reaction of
a mother to a child whether positive of negative as well as the various forms of support to a child
both are key factors to the regulation and also liability of a childs emotions.
Summary
The article Maternal Emotion Socialization Differentially Predicts Third-Grade
Childrens Emotion Regulation and liability is important to psychology in that it helps in
determining the differences of emotions in comparison to different ethnic groups, the different
patterns that arise concerning the regulations of emotions and how to go about them, as well as
the necessary strategies to take when faced with situation that involve human behavior and
nature. In addition, the valuation of a mothers emotion towards a child is also one of the key
aspects that the field of psychology would be beneficial.
The primary developmental issues and presenting challenges that face the regulations of
emotion of children need to be strongly addressed and made aware to mothers. A lot has been

focused on the symptoms that mothers face in relation to the parenting results. However, very
little has been focused on the manner in which the associated symptoms impact the emotions of a
child especially at an early age where they are susceptible to conceiving things very quickly.
Aspects such as the unsupportive role of a parent to a child, the social emotions between mothers
and children, the depressive maternal symptoms as well as negative responses are issues that
contribute immensely to the outcome of a child emotionally. Research shows that children
between the ages of 1-3 often portray emotional outcomes from the care giver. It is therefore
important for psychologists to realize this and put a lot of effort in trying to understand the
positions of both the caregiver and the child regarding the negative emotional responses present.
Some of the contextual factors linked to developmental behaviors or outcomes of
children are negligence of the caregiver to the child, interaction between the two subjects,
positive parenting and control of negative emotions on the caregivers part. These factors are
essential to the contribution of a childs behavior in the sense that the interaction and openness
between the caregiver and child determines whether there is a strong bond between them.
Positive parenting drives children into believing in themselves and at the same time are able to
view life on positive aspect. Negligence is therefore superfluous because it can destroy a childs
self-esteem thereby contributing negatively to a childs upbringing
Research has revealed that two of a childs most prevalence needs are the need to feel
accepted and the need to feel relevant in society. These two aspects often play in a childs mind
depending of the circumstances of his/her life. Positive upbringing as well as positive parenting
is essential in this aspect due to the fact that children pick up more information around them
faster than adults (Kagan, 2011).

Prenatal development occurs when a child is not yet born. This process takes place within
the 40 weeks of pregnancy. Some of the aspects that prevent this process from being efficient are
substances such as alcohol, cigarettes and stress. All these affect the development of the fetus
causing serious strain to the growing child and can lead to serious damages once the child is
born. Mothers should therefore avoid these things as they are potential causes for negative child
emotions (Anderson, 2001).
Bronfenbrenner approached the development of a child on an ecological front. He has a
unique way of combining sociology with psychology to try and explain this aspect more in depth
in both environmental and cultural factors (Bronfenbrenner, 1979). He adopted this aspect in four
systems which he created and these are the frameworks of which he assessed the causes affecting
the development of a child. He contributed by saying that in order to understand the human
development one has to look at it beyond the obvious and examine how several systems work to
reach that particular outcome(Anderson, 2003).
A childs present stage is as a result of the behaviors an efforts projected by the caregiver.
In my opinion, the most applicable of the theories would be Eriksons theory of identity
development. His view on how children should behave is as a result of the external factors that
parents as well as society contribute to the development of a child. According to Erikson, there
are 8 stages of life that one should pass from childhood up to adulthood. I believe that a clear
understanding of this is what makes his theory the most suitable for child development. It is
important that intervention processes are put across by various psychologists to the caregivers as
well as the children. Most parents are not aware that their natural behaviors affect children in
most cases if they are more negative than positive. Steps and strategies should be instilled in

informing patients of the various possibility outcomes and exercises that can contribute to the
positive side of social emotions of a child. Success is then evaluated by taking a survey after
those interventions and comparing the responses from before and after with the aim of realizing
change in the various individuals. Other success measures can also be taken but they should be
monitored closely.
Conclusion
It is important for psychologists to realize that a lot happens when a child is surrounded
by unexplainable behaviors and emotion. A closer look needs to be made between the mother and
the child to be able to depict the certain causes of these outcomes. For instance, caregivers
should be more diligent with the way they handle their children. Aspects such as negative
responses, relaying of stress to the child and mishandling of the child should be avoided as they
trigger negative impacts on a childs emotions. It is therefore important for caregivers to realize
that they are the key factor to the developmental aspects of a childs self-esteem and emotions.
