a meeting point for Indonesias leading geoscience experts and
observers. The event is the perfect environment to share and
discuss geoscience, especially regarding the Indonesia oceanic
territory. It is also a channel for new ideas and initiatives to
manage geo-energy resources ( O&G, mining and geothermal),
disaster mitigation and environment conservation.

MESSAGE FROM
THE CHAIRMAN
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to the Joint Convention Balikpapan 2015 (JCB 2015) where the Indonesian
Association of Geophysicists (HAGI), the Indonesian Association of Geologists (IAGI), the
Indonesian Association of Oil and Gas Production Facilities Professionals (IAFMI) and
the Indonesian Association of Petroleum Engineer (IATMI) join together to bring a wide
audience from oil, gas, mining industries as well as other related participants.
This year marks a significant milestone to bring four associations into one big conference
and convention. As HAGI and IAGI already have a tradition to organize a joint convention
every two years, we are sincerely honored that this year IAFMI and IATMI also come
aboard and joining us in this Joint Convention Balikpapan 2015.
Joint Convention Balikpapan 2015 will be held from 5-8 October 2015 at the
Gran Senyiur Hotel, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. As one of the major contributor for the
energy industry, Kalimantan has contributed a significant economy growth for Indonesia in
the past decades and is expected to grow significantly in the future. This condition will bring
great opportunity for the area itself and for human resources involved in it. We believe that
creating a synergy between both sides is an important value for the industry as a whole.
Empowering Marine Earth Resources is our theme this year. It is a perfect time to bring
this forward as the Indonesian Government also focusing to manage more seriously all
marine resources, i.e. energy, fishing industry, shipping etc. Therefore, this event will
place an extra attention on the exploration, production and development of the marine
resources in term of its energy. HAGI and IAGI will be focusing on the exploration and
subsurface challenges, while IATMI and IAFMI will be focusing on the reservoir and
production challenges. The result will be a comprehensive information from upstream
to downstream that can be valuable for executives, employees, lecturers, and students,
Knowledge, ideas, and experiences will be shared during the technical and non technical
session. This Convention will also serve as a great opportunity for you to expose your
vision and core technology, which until today the Convention Committee has accepted
more than 370 papers.
On behalf of the committees and members of HAGI, IAGI, IAFMI and IATMI, it is my
