1. Purpose
The purpose covers supervision and method of record keeping for plastering works at site.
2. Reference
All Plastering works will comply with contract document
PL/E&C/CONTR/CIVIL/SSPL/ML/2002-03/20 VOLUME II of IV and AFC drawings.
4. Materials
All the materials will be in accordance with specifications mentioned in the contract
document PL/E&C/CONTR/CIVIL/SSPL/ML/2002-03/20 VOLUME II of IV and relavant IS
codes.
A. Cement
Cement Unless otherwise specified it will be ordinary portland cement conforming to IS :
269. MTC will be produced with every batch of cement.
B. Sand:
Sand for plastering shall conform to specifications mentioned in the contract document
PL/E&C/CONTR/CIVIL/SSPL/ML/2002-03/20 VOLUME II of IV and IS 383.
5. Procedure:
Unless otherwise specified 12 mm thick cement plaster in cement sand mortar (1:6) on
inner side of all internal walls, 15 mm thick using medium coarse sand with (1:6) cement :
sand mortar on rough side of 230 mm thick brick wall shall be applied. 6 mm thick plaster
in 1:4 (cement:sand) in ceilings, chajja, columns etc shall be applied. Where specified in
the AFC drawings the sand face plaster, exposed aggregate finish plastering or water
proof plaster shall be done on walls as per specs.
Preparation of surface:
Before plastering work is started over masonry work, the joints shall be raked out
properly. Dust and loose mortar shall be brushed off. Efflorescence if any shall be
removed by brushing and serapping. For concrete surface, the surface will be thoroughly
chipped. Then surface shall be thoroughly washed with water with sufficient pressure.
Application of Plaster:
a) Ceiling plaster shall be completed before commencement of wall plaster.
b) Plastering shall be started from the top and worked downwards to the floor.
c) All putlog holes shall be properly filled in advance of plastering as the scaffolding is be
d) To ensure even thickness and true surface plaster about 15X15 cm shall be first
applied horizontally and vertically, at not more than 2 meters intervals over the entire
surface.

e) Neat cement slurry shall be applied on the surface before plastering.
f) Mortar shall be mixed in the mortar tray properly.
g) The Mortar shall be then applied on the wall between the gauges with trowel.

I) Application of rough cast plaster and neat cement punning will as per specifications.
j) Curing shall be started as soon as the plaster has hardened sufficiently that is generally
the next day of work, so that the plaster does not gets damaged when watered. Plasters
shall be kept wet for a period of 07 days.
6. Inspection

* Surface shall be thoroughly washed with water, cleaned and kept wet before commencing

* All corners, arrises, angles & junctions shall be truly vertical or horizontal as the case may
* Inspection report shall be prepared as per the attached annexure A.

In case of any conflict between this procedure and contract specification, the later shall govern.
