PACKTNG
GLANDS(STUFFING
BOXES)
Dueto the pressureinsidethe retorts,a packingglandor stuffingboxmustbe usedto passthewires(theheat
penetrationor temperaturedistributioncable)intothe vessel. The installationof a "stuffingbox", the C-24or C24-S.will permitthe introduction
of thewiresintothe retortwhilepreventing
steamfromexitingthe hole. lf a cable
is to be removedor installedftequently,
the "swivel-type'(C-24-S)
is recommended
as it permitsscrewingthe
stuffingbox intothe retortwithouttwistingthe cable. "Flange"stuffingboxesare alsoavailableC-24-FL.
