a. The structure of a simple sentence
in past progressive tense is the
following:
PAST PROGRESSIVE

5 Im___ photographer.

Es un tiempo verbal, utilizado para hablar

sobre el desarrollo de una determinada
accin que suceda en un tiempo
determinado. Tambin se utiliza para
expresar una accin que tena lugar cuando
otra la interrumpi y tambin para referirnos
a acciones que ocurran simultneamente.

PAST SIMPLE
2- Para formar el pasado simple con
verbos regulares, usamos el infinitivo
y aadimos la terminacin -ed. La
forma es la misma para todas las
personas (I, you, he, she, it, we,
they).

Excepciones:
1. Para verbos que terminan en una e, slo
aadimos -d.
Ejemplos:
change changed
believe

believed

El pasado simple se utiliza para hablar de

una accin concreta que comenz y acab en
el pasado. En este caso equivale al pretrito
indefinido espaol. Generalmente, lo
usamos con adverbios de tiempo como last
year, yesterday,last night
Ejemplos:
Tom stayed at home last night. (Tom se
qued en casa anoche.)

2. Si el verbo termina en una vocal corta

y una consonante (excepto y o w),
doblamos la consonante final.

Kate worked last Saturday. (Kate

trabaj el sbado pasado.)

Ejemplos:

I didnt go to the party yesterday. (No

fui a la fiesta ayer.)

PAST PERFECT
Es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para
referirnos a una accin que tuvo lugar en un
momento anterior a otra accin, aunque
ambas hayan sucedido en
el pasado estableciendo un orden entre ellas.
