Subject: Submission of Internship report.

Dear Sir,

I, Md. Kaisar Syed, ID # 0611042 am submitting my internship report with great pleasure and
humble obedience. My report is all about “Introduction to Banglalink GSM and Network
Management System (NMS)”. In these three months I tried to understand the way of designing a
project and process of implementation. Network Management System (NMS) is one of the parts of
the Banglalink. It was a great experience for me to works on this project.

I hope you will asses my report considering the limitations of the study. Your kind advice will
encourage me to perform better research work in future.

Thanking you

Acknowledgement

First of all I would like to thank to Almighty Allah for giving the willpower and opportunity to
organize this final report of internship for the achievement of my graduation effectively. Without
the assistance, encouragement and support supplied to me by diverse frontage it was not easy for
me to have success in completing my mission.

With respect I would also like to thank with gratefulness to my admirable supervisors, Mr.Amran
Haroon Lecturer, School of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, for his valuable
guidance.

I am also grateful to Mr. Kuntal Rahman Senior executive, regional operation and Maintenance,
Chittagong division of Banglalink also thanks to Mr. Towfiq Syed (NMS Engineer) for their able
guidance and useful suggestions, which helped me in completing the project work, in time. They
were so helpful and continuous supportive thought my internship.

Finally, I express my gratitude to Independent University Bangladesh for providing me the

opportunity to complete my internship and gain a vast amount of knowledge and experience. Also, I
would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my beloved parents for their blessings, my
classmates/friends for their help and wishes for the successful completion of this internship.

Abstract

This report is based on Network Management System (NMS) of Banglalink. This report provides my
field experiences on the Network Management System (NMS) department of Banglalink. It presents
with information about the status of the network and it monitors and controls a variety of system
parameters. This report is focused on Network Management System (NMS) and its implementation
specially GSM network components. GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication: Originally
from Group Special Mobile) is the most popular standard for mobile phones in the world. GSM is a
cellular network, which means that mobile phones connect to it by searching for cells in the
immediate vicinity. In this report its network and maintenance are focused on.
