Do you want to become a Peer Recovery Coach?

4 Day CCAR Recovery Coach Academy

Training is offered in Denver this summer
Over the course of Four Fridays in July

The Training: The Connecticut Community of Addiction Recovery (CCAR) established the Recovery Coach Academy in
2008 in response to the needs of volunteers in Connecticuts recovery community centers. Our facilitator Rod Rushing CAC
III (www.rodrushing.com) obtained CCAR accreditation in 2014 and is one of an elite number of CCAR trainers in the
country. He established Peer Coach Academy (PCA) Colorado, to enhance the recovery community back in his home state.
This 32-hour intensive CCAR training is International Certification (IC) and Reciprocity Consortium (RC) approved and
focuses on providing skills that are needed to guide, mentor, and support anyone who would like to sustain long-term
recovery from addiction of alcohol or other drugs. PCA trainings include access to consistent and documented supervision
as well as ongoing CCAR affiliated trainings such as Ethical Considerations, Legal Recovery Coaching and Medicated
Supported Recovery. The trainings are not only educational treasures for a person in recovery; they have been described as
spiritual retreats by many.
Is it for you? This training is for anyone interested in promoting recovery by removing barriers and obstacles to recovery
and serving as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking or already in recovery. As a result of this training, a coach
will be able to describe the role and function of a recovery coach; list the components, core values, and guiding principles
of recovery; use active listening skills, and motivational interviewing as a coaching component; understand the intersection
of stages of recovery with the stages of change; acknowledge the power and effectiveness of personal recovery stories to
move the recoveree along in his or her recovery wellness planning; and understand various ethical and boundary issues
inherent in the coach-recoveree relationship.
