Dr.

Hayes Wicker, Senior Pastor

WeFit

When Christians gather together, they can either be like

marbles or grapes bouncing off each other or meshing
together. If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son,
purifies us from all sin (1 John 1:7). While we glorify Christ
and look forward to an eternity with Him, we also learn to
live with the brothers and sisters in the family of God in this
life, and eternity. Becoming Gods grapes is what WeFit is
all about our adult Wednesday time of Body Life. We will
meet from 6:30 8:00 PM in the Worship Center for three
months, beginning June 8th.
Few relational situations could have been more challenging than the apostles
whom Jesus called to Himself. Simon the Zealot was a revolutionary patriot
who hated Rome; Matthew, the sell-out tax collector, was a collaborator with
the occupying forces. Peter was impulsive and often had sandals-in-the-mouth,
while John was sensitive and loving. Somehow the Holy Spirit bonded them all
together to turn the world upside down. They were a microcosm of the larger
Body of Christ.
Christian Schwarz studied 1000 churches on six continents and cited loving
relationships as a primary quality of a growing church. He noted that Church
Growth people did not list it normally as a key ingredient. He discovered that
growing churches possessed on average a measurably higher love quotient
than churches which were stagnant or declining. Of course!
In First Baptist Church, we have the sweetest, most united fellowship that I
have ever experienced. We happily love and help one another. Guests often
comment on the unique atmosphere as soon as they are on the property. We
reach out throughout the community to those who need the gospel and have
other needs. We not only devote ourselves to the apostles teaching but also
to fellowship, the breaking of bread and to prayer (Acts 2:42).
Our Wednesday evening program will involve concise Bible teaching, prayer,
testimonies of Gods work, ministry reports, a time of humor and great desserts.
We will have fun! We will also host various family nights involving recreation, a
comedy team, and Christian-themed movies. Some of the pastoral team and I
will be teaching biblical passages which help us function as a healthy church. I
hope that you look forward to being stretched and strengthened.
We thank God for leading Renee Blain to us last week by an overwhelming
ballot vote to be Director of Preschool Ministry. After all, the little ones really fit
in the Family of God.

*There is a guest reception in the Commons following the Saturday night and
Sunday morning 11:00am worship services. Pastor would love to meet you!
