NATURE OUR FUTURE TRUST

Nature our Future Trust was registered at the Registration Department Government of
TamilNadu Chennai during 2014.
Registration No 203/14 Date 21-05-2014
The Trust was established to achieve two primary objectives:

1.To initiate appropriate activities that could help in assuring happy life to all life forms primarily
through ensuring happiness to the pollinators and seed dispersers like Birds,Butterflies,Bees
,Bats and Beetles especially by involving school children .Subsequently college students,rural
youths,agriculturist will be made to get involved in this noble venture.This is aimed at
environmental amelioration, ecological resurrection, aesthetic upliftment,thereby ensuring
health of the Nation, through bringing back the Ecosystem Services that Mother Nature had been
showering for all life forms,for over millions of years.The past three centuries had witnessed a
dramatic decline due to human aggressive expoitation of these Natural resources .This has
resulted in Global warming,causing irrepairable damage to all life forms.By educating the youth
about all these aspects,the Trust aims at planting millions of trees that specifically provide food
and shelter, all through the year and years to come to these mild lives.This is a carbon farming
strategy to mitigate Global Warming.

2.The second objective is to exemplify fast growing and drought tolerant trees as fulcrum for
rural development and downstream employment generation in the villages.Such new varieties of
trees,hybrids and clones ,invented through Research works will be exhibited and introduced to
the farmers especially focussing marginal farmers.Strategies that could enable utilising every
drop of water,every grain of soil and every ray of Sun will be showcased by that Trust.Various
models like cogeneration of wood and food ,with appropriate strategies and inputs both organic

and inorganic will be demonstrated.

Inshort,the first objective will help in Biodiversity upliftment (Health of the Nation )and the
second in Bioproductivity enhancement in farmers lands (weath of the Nation).

TRUST ACTIVITIES DURING YEAR 2014

A small beginning was made by seeking for contribution of Rs.1000 only from willing persons
through WhatsApp medium.Only about 1,00,000 (one lakh Rupees)were contributed.About 20,000
seedlings of Bird cherry trees were produced from this amount at the cost of Rs.2.50 per seedling.
6000 booklets written in Tamil to explain as to why to plant these seedlings and it's benifits were
printed at a cost of Rs.6 each.Then later to distribute to farmers in farmers meet,1000 more were
printed at a cost of Rs.6 each.

All the 20000 seedlings and booklets were distributed to rural school children in Erode District each
child one seedling.Meetings were held at the schools by the Trust to explain as to why of it.
Eco coordinators of School education Dept were involved in these meetings .A little numbers were
distributed to farmers in agri fares at Erode during 2014.Few hundreds were distributed to road side
shop owners to plant in front of their shops in Andiyur and Bhavani Blocks.

TRUST ACTIVITIES DURING YEAR 2015

During this year,1 lakh seedlings were produced as a contribution to the Trust by Shesasayee paper
mill,Pallipalayam,Namakkal District.One lakh revised 10 page Tamil pamplet write ups were printed
and are being distributed along with the seedlings.Total amont of around 4.5 lakh were contributed by
kind hearted donors.It is proposed to distribute out of 1 lakh seedlings about 70000 to 70000 school
children and the rest to rural farmers.This fund will be utilised to achieve both the objectives,with
more vigour to the first one and to carry out founding activities for the second objective.
PICTURES OF NURSERY:

The aim was to motivate each school child to take care of one seedling by taking that to their
homestead and plant,nurse and observe the birds,bats,butterflies and bees visiting the trees after one
year by which time this Bird cherry trees will flower and fruit.Those children who can care for the
trees and make them flower will be given exemplary certificate after one year.Within a school, three
prizes will be given to the student for the first three best ,well grown trees.
The State Government Education Department through the Chief Education officer and Eco
cordinators were involved right from the beginning this year.A video presentation about this project
was taken and copied in DVDS.More than 200 DVDS have been so far distributed to the schools in
which seedlings are being distributed.About 140 schools,represented by their coordinators,were
invited for a meeting at Andiyur,in which the video presentation was made and lectures were delivered
on this activity and explained as to how to go about.Each one of them were given one CD to exhibit to
the children of these schools(Wealth of the Nation).

So far,till Oct 29th , about 80,000 seedling's had been sent to various chosen schools in Erode Dt.

The Ecocordinators of school education Department of Erode ,Chief Education officer,is organising
the selection of schools.The Trust is distributing by transporting and supplying free of cost to
children.It is ensured that all the children who receive these ,also are given one tamil booklet written
by the Trust.All of them are shown the video presentation too,as far as possible before hand.One lakh
tamil booklets have been printed at a cost of two lakh Rupees exclusive of transport charges.
It is proposed to distribute 15000 each to Namakkal Dt schools and Tirupur Dt schools before the end
of North East Monsson if before Dec.2015.
To involve rural agriculturalists,about 15000 seedlings were distributed in a big fair and car
festival,Andiyur,one of the biggest in India.An one page pamplet in Tamil ,about 25000 were printed

and distributed along with seedlings or alone also.

Flex boards were printed and exhibited in stalls and in seedlings transport vans to draw the
attention.It is propsed to distribute few thousand seedlings to shop owners along the main roads to
plant to befit them by its beautiful green umbrella shade after one year.It is also planned to plant about
less than 1000 seedlings in Andiyur sandhai, which spreads over 7 acres,alas without a single tree.

We should visualise that people congregated under the shade of trees in the past during Sandai
days to sell and buy but not a tree seen now.All the people concerned, the management of the
Panchayat and the traders are being contacted to solicit their support. They are enthusiastic. .some
doubtful. .Nothing succeeds like success. So the Trust ,with full trust on people and with renewed
thrust ,will make this happen this year.Tree guards with bamboo splints have been arranged..After one
year ,a kilidoscopic change we can see all the people with smiling and pleasing face,facing each
other,even during the hot sunny days.As is told,Tamilnadu has three seasons hot,hotter,hottest each

and every year.We can not change that but the environment can be changed by this green umbrella
tree.

Video presentations and lectures were given by the chairman of the trust in few schools to start
with.The video presentations are being shown in all schools and will be completed by December 2015.
It is proposed to address few selected colleges this year so that they can also be involved during 20152016 (Second Objective).

To exemplify Trees as fulcrum for rural development for ensuring profit to farmers by cultivating
fast growing new tree varieties,hybrids and clones,both for protective irrigated and rained
lands.Decent Income to farmers will have cascading effect on rural employment and cash flow in the
hands of agricultural labourers and landless rural masses.The Trust is identifying fastest growing trees
of Malaivembu,Drought tolerant but fast growing Casuarina species,Eucalyptus hybrids for plywood
and paper pulp.These are being cloned now and small model plots of less than 1 ha will be established
in 3 or 4 representative dry rainfed lands in few blocks this year.

Convergence of all proven package of practice will be exemplify in these demonstration plots by the
Trust.Nothing is better than seeing for themselves the success models that alone can earn the trust of
the farmers.
This trust is a non profit one ,aiming at implementing all good deeds in a mission mode approach.
Apart from this,the trust is exploring possibilities for national and international markets for these
wood products so that farmers and tree cultivators are assured of steady market in future.
The Trust will also aim at lessening the middlemen exploitation of the income of the farmers.It is
possible by collective actions with appropriate strategies.
This is an ongoing activity and will be carried out with more thrust in the ensuing years.
