1) If I am a pre-schooler now in Singapore, the first thing I see as I walk into the classroom
is the 4 walls of the classroom. If I would to see a darkly painted classroom, I would feel
very moody, tired, upset, and many other negative emotions that would most likely
make going to school every single day a burden for me. Whereas, if I were to see a pale
pink/green/blue classroom, I would feel more at ease and calmer as compared if I were
to see a brightly painted red/orange/pink classroom, which would most likely make me
feel very excited and gets my adrenaline pumped up. I would like it if my teachers could
put up class works of my classmates and I, so not only do I compare makes our class
works different but also I can take this chance to learn and apply in my future class
works if I do notice something I have never seen before.

The learning centers/areas in the classrooms are also one big factor that makes me
look forward to going to school, because I am able to play toys of my interest and have
fun. In order to achieve this, the classroom has to have more than enough space for the
learning centers to be separated with each another, and each center should have
enough materials for my classmates and me.

2) I agree that students expectation and behaviour in school are influenced by differing
physical environments. For example, in 3rd world countries such as Africa which is
plagued by famine and starvation, education systems are not as well-developed, thus,
less would be expected of the childrens holistic development and bringing up cultured
behaviour would not be as significant in their lives as getting food in their stomachs.
This is the complete opposite in 1st/2rd world countries. Needless to say, many student
in Japan have committed suicide due to the overwhelming stress placed on them to

achieve more than their limits. Even though it does not affect pre-schoolers as much, it
sets an early mind-set in the general community that education is so important in the
21st century that voluntary deaths for education happens so frequently.

3) Actual academic achievements of students do get affected by the energy of the schools
environments. If students would to be schooled at a centre that provides ample
opportunities for students to foster positive relationships with their classmates and their
teachers, it would provide them with the emotional and social support that they need in
school to feel that they are at ease, while they are able to perform at their maximum
potential with the close guidance of their teachers. Not only at school, but when
teachers are informed observers at school, they are able to create and modify the
schools curriculum and lesson plans according to what would work best for the
students while giving them equalled attention to their needs. Then, children would be
able to better understand and interpret the knowledge taught, so that a strong
foundation is built before they proceed to the corresponding level, where the application
of the foundational skills is needed. Positive classroom environments would also include
exposing students to the different arts and sciences so as to ensure a holistic
development, so that students will become dynamic learners of all diversity.

If a child has no proper teacher support, where there is a lack of qualified educators,
there is a chance of hindering the childs academic progress in terms of mathematical
and/or factual subjects, such as the sciences subjects. In terms of the arts subjects
such as the Art & Craft, Music & Dance Movement, and students would not have
enough opportunities/materials to learn how to properly express their thoughts and/or

feelings, which can cause a built up of emotional suppression over time and thus
affecting their behaviour and actions in the classroom.
