Criminal Minds, Persuasion (Season 9, Chapter 17)

Criminal minds, is an American TV show, created by Jeff Davis,

produced by The Mark Gordon Company, in association with ABC (B studios
and CBS Television Studios. This TV shows, how an FBI's Behavioral Analysis
Unit (BAU) solves very complex crimes, which mostly are talk about a serial
killer, or group (for example a sect). It premiered on the 22 nd September
2005, on CBS. Criminal Minds, got lots of actors, but the only ones who
appeared the 11 seasons are: Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), Derek
Morgan (Shemar Moore), Spencer Reid (Mathew Gray Gubler), Jennifer
Jareau or JJ (A.J. Cook) and Penlope Garca (Kirsten Vangsness); in
Criminal minds last season (11th season), more characters than these ones
appear, and they are: Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) and Tara Lewis (Aisha
Tyler). This TV show, is settled in USA. Although, the office of this FBI team
is set in Virginia, they travel to lot of different states of USA and sometimes
also to Mexico.
In this episode from Criminal minds, the FBI BAUs, travels to Las
Vegas, because in its desert, theyve found dead bodies, that were
mysteriously drowned (in the episode is mentioned that the nearest river
was 100km away from the bodies). This episode, it is very interesting for the
viewers (in my personal opinion all Criminal minds episodes are very
interesting), because it shows how a special team works, and solves a
crime, also (and this is something, that I really appreciate) is that in this
particular episode, it shows how life from poor people can be and also that
they make crimes for necessity, trying not to hurt people in any case.
Another important aspect, is that this special team from the FBI, analyses
how a psychopath thinks and also they explain basically why and what they
do (psychos).
To start with, this episode starts with a women begging for her life,
that she would do whatever they wanted, but it was late for that, so she was
killed. After this scene, it is shown that a needy teenager enters to a coffee
shop asking for a job, but he was told that they werent looking for more
workers. After that, the kid (as they called him) was exiting this coffee
shop and hits a man that was entering, he forgives for hitting the man and
walks away. When this teen was outside the shop an old man who was in the
shop realized that he was trying to steal the other man wallet, so the old
man, goes to talk to the teen (outside the coffee shop) and tells him hes
got talent to be a robber and that he wants to teach him so he can develop
his abilities. In this conversation, they present themselves, so you know that
the kids name is Finn, and the old mans Marvin. After that, Marvin takes
Finn to the drains, where he lives with a bunch of people, who pay taxes to
be protected and to continue living there and not to be killed (because of
their codes, if you steal -dont pay taxes or pay less than you should- you
were killed).
What I really liked about this episode, is the dead bodies make up,
because if you see them, it really looks like a dead body, not like the movies
or other TV shows were you can see the corpse breathing and painted with
cheap red paint. Another thing I also really like, is the setting, I dont really
know if they traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to film this episode, but if it they

used special effects to film the scene, it really didnt noticed at all. Also, I
really like the characters of the show, specially Dr. Spencer Reid, which is a
very intelligent man, who had a rough childhood, but he always got the
support of his mother -who suffered from schizophrenia- and he then send it
to a clinic to treat her. I really like, that he sometimes talks like a machine,
knowing the exact facts from a city or place. Also, Spencers best friend is
Derek Morgan, who is a very rough guy, very good when fighting, and also
intelligent. Another thing I value of this episode, is that the relation between
the team which is very good, which makes work more dynamic and easy, so
it shows how good is to have a good relation between each other; for
example, Derek and Penlope (who works with computers, finding
information, hacking phones, tracking devices, etc.) talk to each other with
lots of pseudonyms, like baby girl (the strange of this is that they arent a
couple) or my hero (said in a moment that he havent saved her or helped
her). Another thing I love from this TV show, is that they try to explain
everything with simple words, so everyone with 14 years old or more can
understand what they are talking about.
What I really didnt like much about this episode is that it was very
easy to solve the case. I know that this is not a reality show, but they have
done better endings throughout the hole series, but this was a very fast and
not so interesting end. A case that in real life takes a week or more to solve
it, this team solves it in less than 2 days. This personally, I found it boring,
because they found information that cannot be found in real life. They
founded who was the killer (in this episode the killer was an expert
hypnotist, who had hypnotized someone to kill the people he wanted), by
knowing that a reporter disappeared and that the bodies were drowned with
non-drinking water, they realized that the killer lives and/or killed them in
the drains. Another thing I dont really like is that the ending is pretty
obvious, so after seeing 25 minutes from 40 minutes I already know how
this episode was going to end, maybe, because I see a lot Criminal minds
and I already know how the endings are, but most of the times, the killer
surrenders without giving a fight, while, personally speaking, I prefer the
killer at least to try to fight or shoot, because I find it more interesting.
I have a very good opinion on Criminal minds, and this episode wasnt
the exception. The production team had make an outstanding work with the
setting, script and others, while the actors have also made his part. The only
thing I would fix or change is the endings, they are very short and
predictable, which makes lots of people to stop watching it.
