EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY

Our innovative insecticide, DuPont™ Rynaxypyr™, has an improved environmental profile and offers long-lasting, broad
spectrum protection against many of the most common and destructive chewing insects that plague fruit, vegetables,
specialty and field crops, as well as turf. We developed this product to help our customers in South Africa, Turkey and
soon also other European countries to care for their crops safely and efficiently without harming the environment.

SAFE CONNECTIONS
As with every area of our business, safety is a major consideration
for all of our communication products and solutions. Wires and
cables are potential fire hazards. DuPont™ Teflon® is the most
commonly used primary insulation for high-speed data cables
and is used in IT systems and buildings because of its toughness
and strong flame-resistance. DuPont™ Fusabond® coupling
agents meanwhile help to offer fire protection for halogen-free
insulation of wires and cables, preserving communication
systems and keeping people connected.

to be produced on a wide variety of fabrics and other substrates,
while the DuPont™ Cyrel® Fast and DuPont™ Cyrel® round are
known for their complete flexographic printing production offering.

CREATING MOBILE ENERGY

We are addressing the demand for increased personal mobility by creating cleaner, more convenient and sustainable
energy sources for mobile devices. This initiative took a major step forward in May 2005 with our launch of the first
commercially available Direct Methanol Fuel Cells. These more powerful, longer-lasting fuel cells significantly extend the
life of portable power supplies in consumer electronics as well as in larger industrial applications.

DuPont for our personnel, but are also available to external companies. We can provide both the tools and the expertise
to prepare for many health threats, as well as the materials, such as DuPont™ Corian® and DuPont™ Zodiaq® hygienic
high performance surfaces, that help maintain health standards.

reliable, comfortable, attractive and environmentally sound. Our products range from DuPont™ Teflon®, used in oxygen
sensors to monitor exhaust fume quality, to fuel system sealing
components made of Viton® fluoroelas-
tomers, which offer improved resistance
to permeability and to today‘s aggressive
fuels and fuel additives.

As the largest global manufacturer of

automotive coatings for car manufacturers
and repairers, we deliver technologically
sophisticated and environmentally respon-
sible products. With our new EcoConcept
coating concept, car manufacturers can
eliminate one complete coating layer – the
still mainly solvent-based primer surfacer –
and reduce solvent emissions. We also
develop products that help our customers’
productivity. Take, for example, our
innovative UV refinish materials which
can cut the time for minor bodywork repairs
from 45 minutes to just over 25. Our paint
solutions for metal exteriors and plastic
interiors combine aesthetics with durabil-
ity to create better-looking vehicles with
longer life-spans.

COMFORT AND EFFICIENCY

Our technology also improves the driving experience for drivers
and passengers. DuPont™ Hytrel®, DuPont™ Crastin® and
DuPont™ Zytel® high performance polymers are used in
innovative one-part engine air ducts. They replace the conven-
tional rubber and metal, thereby improving comfort and safety
while increasing fuel efficiency. Our DuPont™ Kapton® polyimide
film is used as a sensor in intelligent airbag systems to measure
the size and position of passengers to determine whether the 2

airbag should be activated, avoiding potential injuries to babies

and children.

FROM THE SEA TO THE SKY

We also have a long history of developing aeronautical products,
helping aircraft to fly faster, further, safer and more efficiently.
A typical commercial jet may, for example, contain over 200 km
of wire and cable insulated with DuPont™ Tefzel® fluoropolymer
resin and DuPont™ Oasis® optimised wire insulation. As part of

REDUCING OUR RELIANCE ON FOSSIL FUELS

DuPont is partnering with BP to deliver advanced biofuels made from sugar beet, corn, wheat and other
renewable resources. The first of these new fuels is called biobutanol and is targeted for introduction in
2007 in the UK. Biobutanol can help accelerate the move to renewable transportation fuels and contribute
to lowering overall greenhouse gas emissions.

THE SCIENCE OF LISTENING

Our research and development activities are geared towards finding sustainable
solutions that meet the needs of our customers and end-users, thus providing our
customers with concrete market opportunities. Our Cosmetic Solutions team,
for example, helps fragrance and cosmetics brands differentiate with packag-
ing materials that make a statement. DuPont™ Surlyn® resins, for example, are
used to create elegant transparent or frosted glass-like caps and containers
which are attractive yet durable and unbreakable.

FINDING SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVES

We continuously strive to find solutions for environmentally responsible
manufacturing. With our partner Tate & Lyle, we successfully make Bio-PDO™
from a renewable resource, corn sugar. This provides a versatile ingredient for
many products including cosmetics, liquid detergents, anti-freeze and specialty
polymers such as DuPont™ Sorona®.

We have also developed a broad portfolio of materials and technologies for the
production of alternative energy sources, such as photovoltaic (PV) systems,
which convert sunlight into electricity through solar cells. One such system is
installed at our Chestnut Run site in Delaware, United States. Since its start-up
in April 2006 the system has produced an average of about 160 kWh/day – enough
to meet the needs of eight residential homes and to provide 10 per cent of the
energy used by one of our on-site buildings. We supply PV manufacturers with
DuPont™ Tedlar® films, encapsulants and conductive inks.

INNOVATING FOR THE FUTURE
