Themes and challenges

victims, offenders and society
6. the effectiveness of legal and non-legal measures in
achieving justice.

Task Description:
Annotated Media File (25 marks)
Students are to prepare a media file including:
1. 3 relevant and recent (written in the in last 10 years)
Legislation/Cases/Media articles (LCMs) for each of the themes listed
on the cover page (total of 18 items). These can include:
- Legislation (State or Commonwealth)
- A related Criminal Case heard in any Australian court (search austlii)
- Media article (e.g. SMH, The Age, The Australian)
2. A Synopsis (1500 words In total not 1500 words for each theme) that:
a. Describes the legal issues that are highlighted by your research
b. Evaluates how your LCMs reflect on how the legal system attempts to
deliver justice

Presentation:
1. Include a copy of each LCM (Case include a printout of the case
summary or the first page of the case details; newspaper article online
version is acceptable, Legislation can be the first page from Austlii or
equivalent)
2. Your Annotated Media file should use the following sub-headings:

Clearly describes and interprets the legal issues this highlighted
by research

legal instruments and relevant topic themes and challenges from
the LCM
Evaluates how the LCMs relate to topic themes and challenges in
a concise and sophisticated manner
Demonstrates extensive knowledge and understanding on the
link between the LCMs and the theme/challenge
