Design Features:
Die Forger
Design Features:
Above: Die Forger users report production increases up to 25% over conventional
gravity drop hammer output.
The Chambersburg Die Forger is the most productive anvil type hammer now available. It possesses the versatility and
production capability of an accelerated drop hammer but requires no unusual operating skills. Air operated and equipped
with solid-state electrical controls, this unique tool combines precise forging blow control with rapid striking rates (up to 100
blows a minute). Simple numerical programming permits the operator to program complete forging cycles, designating the
number of die stations, the blow intensity and the number of blows at each station. The Die Forger is particularly suited for
repetitive production of drop forgings in impression dies requiring frequent stock manipulation and forging blows of various
intensities. Available in sizes from 4,000 to 66,000 foot-pounds (553-9128 MKg) maximum blow energy.
The worlds most popular hammer of its type, the Chambersburg CECO-DROP
is an air or steam operated, piston lift, gravity drop hammer. Available with
electrical ram stroke control (Model E) or mechanical ram stroke control, the
CECO-DROP forges more minutes per hour than a board drop hammer
because shutdowns for board replacements and friction adjustments are
eliminated. Size for size, the CECO-DROP out produces other gravity drop
hammers, at less cost per forging. It has earned a reputation as the standard
gravity drop hammer (over 700 installations in forge shops around the world).

FORGING ACCESSORIES
STEEL SIDE TRIMMING PRESSES
This trimming press makes a perfect production teammate for a
Chambersburg Gravity Drop, Power/Drop or Die Forger Hammer. Steel
side construction makes the Chambersburg Trimming Press practically
indestructible. Friction slip flywheel protects vital parts against overload;
pneumatic clutch is standard on all sizes. Features include continuous
operation, low power consumption, and minimum space. The first cost is
practically the last cost. Wide range of sizes. The press includes
electrical operating controls, and required OSHA safety features.
POWER ACCESSORY
POWER/TROL
A 12,000 pound (5,500 kg) hammer at work, equipped with
a console POWER/TROL.
Make hammer operation safer and easier with this power
assist control. POWER/TROL is designed to control larger
Pneumatic, Single Frame, Double Frame and Power/Drop
Hammers, making operation practically effortless. Whether
console or treadle-assisted, operator fatigue is reduced and
operator efficiency and machine production rise. Easy
lever motion is amplified by hydraulic power yet hammer
blow sensitivity and accuracy of control remain unimpaired.
With the console POWER/TROL, the operator can be
positioned remote from the hammer, away from heat and
flying scale.
Chambersburg POWER/TROL can be supplied to
practically any make hammer of 2,500 pounds (1,106 kg)
rated size and larger.
FORCING PRESS
An air operated, piston-lift, gravity-drop hammer, the Forming Drop is best suited for jobs
requiring a single blow in a single die impression as well as cold coining, embossing, and
forming operations. Novel choke control provides precise regulation of blow energy.
The Forming Drop is customarily integrated with a variety of feed devices for semiautomatic operation. Proper synchronization of the feeding devices is facilitated by the
electrical control system. Appropriate no stock no blow safety devices protect the
dies. Available in a range of sizes from 1,200 foot-pounds (165 MKg) to 6,000 footpounds (830 MKg) maximum blow energy.
The Chambersburg Model L Forcing Press is unexcelled for steel mill, electrical and
machine shop maintenance and general pressing tasks. Material handling is easily
accomplished by an overhead crane because the Model L is a 75 inclined type. Its
double-acting cylinder permits increased ram speeds and superior operator control.
The effective stroke of the ram is increased by a cast iron distance piece on a
pivoting jib crane. The resistance beam of the press is proportioned to limit
maximum stress and deflection. A turret type cap provides 3 different resistance
beam openings; the openings can be adjusted without need for an overhead crane.
